Go braless without showing off your "high beams"

Rumor has it that bras can be a little uncomfortable, meaning that -- if they thought they could get away with it -- many women would like to go braless. Awesome! However, this liberated fashion choice presents some obvious problems. Namely, that you "walk into a cold building and bling -- all of a sudden [your] 'high beams' are on blast for the world to see." Not exactly a best case scenario if you're a woman who prides herself on being discrete.
Fortunately for all of us, the solution may be here -- "Nippies." Made by Bristols6, these look more or less like the "pasties" that burlesque troupes wear so they're not pulling Janet Jacksons every time they perform. However, they come in a variety of styles for the everyday woman -- including stars, butterflies, and just about anything else you can think of.
Says Chanel at Hip Candy: "Kept me perfectly closed in when I wore them recently with a slightly plunging neckline. And believe me, I shook and shimmied to put 'em to the test."
With any luck, you'll never have to wear a bra again.

What is up with you idiots here at Styledash? This is the first and last time I come here. First Lauren whatsername cant spell "alley" and now you can't even spell the word 'D-I-S-C-R-E-E-T'. Since when is it being indiscreet to show the world that you have nipples? Everyone was born with them. There is dress that I find inappropriate in most public venues but simply a confirmation that you have nipples is not naughty at all. This sounds like it came from someone who thinks that a baby being breastfed is something that you should hide under a large knitted shawl.

[big sigh] Why oh why do people hate nipples (especially erect nipples) so much? Where did this phobia come from? Wouldn't it be wonderful if women could openly dress like they did in the Victorian Era (see The History Channel show on the Victorian Era for specifics) and bare their breasts and nipples! Yup! In the Victorian era!
This is another useless product, and I'm sure the marketing for it will do its best to convince women that erect nipples are a sin and abhorrent and a crime against women and humanity. What a crock!
You go to Europe and see "headlights" or heaven forbid, bare breasts, and no one (except the Americans) thinks a thing about it. They are used to it, and it doesn't cause "sexual deviancy" or "men to lose control" or anything else.
Why? Because it is NORMAL!!!
As a photographer friend told me. "The first couple of nude shoots I was very nervous and it was arousing. By the fifth shoot it was 'yawn, more breasts and bush, big deal, so what." And with the exception of America and the Islamic parts of the world, that's the way modern civilizations see nudity. So what. Big deal. It's time for the US to grow up.

I'm not ashamed people seeing me but seeing nipples THROUGH your clothes makes you look stupid (and even in Europe is frowned upon in professional settings, and oh yeah, pretty much everywhere. They're not prudes but they still have style.) I don't see how keeping people from looking stupid makes you a breastfeeding/nipple hater. Don't listen to those frickin weirdos.

I don't think people should be showing their genitals in public, either - I guess that makes me a sex hater. :P
For the clueless/ignorant among you - a woman walking around with visibly erect nipples will cause pretty much every man who sees her to start thinking about having sex with her, or at least think about having sex with someone. The insecure among you may think that's a great thing, but for those of us confident enought not to need to have our attractiveness continually reaffirmed by trashily flaunting ourselves to the general public, we really don't want total strangers thinking about us naked.
In other words, it's all about class, people. You either have it, or you expose yourself in public to attract attention - thereby proving to the world just how needy and insecure you are.

And yes, I know that nipples aren't genitals. But nipples, like genitals, are generally sexually arousing.

ill just go on wearing a bra, not because of the whole nipple issue but because i just find it more comfortable that way anyway. most of the time you can see them with or without a bra anyways.

I work at a well-known department store and these "Nippies" are not exactly a new product. A very large variety of merchandise is available (and has been for awhile) to not show off your assets when wearing a very low cut top or dress.
I just don't understand how a blog called "Styledash" could be years behind a sales girl and I don't even work in Lingerie!
And as for all the feminists out there, it really is ok to cover them up now and then. Yes, people in Europe sometimes go barechested. On the beach! Not, I'm sure, while grocery shopping at the local market. As others have said, class. Some have it and some don't.

My sister had a mastectomy and just sent me a link to this blog. She said she WISHES she could show OFF her high beams! Nipples are indicative of feminity, and women should feel free to show them off proudly! You got it? FLAUNT IT!! (Even if they're hanging down around your waistline!) heehee :)

I AM WOMAN in #10 you have the right attitude! I applaud you! Please give my wishes to your sister too, for a full recovery. And just because she may have one less breast and nipple, she should still show off the other one! They also sell excellent realistic looking prosthetic breast inserts with erect nipples and without!
