Generation now: Rehab chic

Lindsay Lohan Rehab Chic Head ScarfThe New York Post calls it the revival of the hippie look. The L.A. Times calls it rehab chic. Whatever it is called the messy look that celebrities like Lindsay Lohan, Mary-Kate Olsen, Kimberly Stewart, Kate Moss, and Nicole Richie are rocking; it's so hot right now.

The look is simple: Messy hair tied back with a scarf, bunches of bracelets, cut-off shorts, and a dazed and confused looked. L.A. Times dubs this look as "Coachella-meets-Kitson".

The 'rehab chic' look sounds familiar simple enough; party like a rock star , roll out of bed after 3 hours of sleep, slap on some clean enough clothes, and add accessories. Sure you will take 3 steps towards the door, run back to the mirror, and say "Omg! Do I look homeless?" You will look a smidge homeless but let me tell you something, you will be the hottest riches homeless gal on the block.

I am sure all of you over- twenty something's out there are confused at the notion of these crazy young people, who keep such an unkempt look. Perhaps it started as an anti-fashion statement for young celebs who were trying to look like crap in an effort to throw the paparazzi off the scent and it back fired? But like other rebellious statements like a punk rocker or a hippie, the looks catch on like wildfire and define a generation. Perhaps this 'rehab chic' look will be our stamp in the fashion history book, will you embrace the look?
