"I wanted the atrium space to be an environment where people could hang out and relax – it's such a giant space, but it's got an atmosphere and environment where people feel comfortable," explains co-owner and interior designer Cary Mock. "We went for kind of an Asian minimalism with an Indonesian flare in clean, uncluttered space, with a modern sensibility that appealed to people who live in an urban center. Spas don't have to look like a Roman temple."

Nor do they have to be un-environmentally friendly. Mock also took the green route, using bamboo for a lot of the wood paneling and countertops, low and non-VOC paints, and even ensuring the cleaning products used throughout the spa are environmentally friendly and bio degradable.



But enough about that – let's get to the treatments that will get you back in tip top beauty shape. You'd be remiss if you didn't book a facial appointment with Rene Rutledge, the resident skin expert of Dtox. Though any facial you book with her is worth its weight in gold, the crème de la crème of treatments comes in the form of the Body Butter Wrap, which is 80 minutes of bliss combining the best parts of a body wrap with a facial. After giving your sun-worn bod a dry brushing, Rutledge coats you in rich shea butter and wraps you up like a burrito, giving time for the shea to penetrate and work its magic. Meanwhile, she works on your face – cleaning, scrubbing, extracting if you so choose ... the whole experience is a little slice of heaven, and you leave her treatment room with skin fresh as a newborn babe's.
