Ashlee Simpson Photoshopped beyond all recognition
Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style
Congratulations to Complete Woman magazine, for going above and beyond the call of duty in celebrity Photoshopping. It's not exactly a secret that no real person can live up to the carefully crafted images that appear on the covers of magazines -- but at least those mags are trying to make the photos look kind of plausible. This photo of Ashlee Simpson, on the other hand, has been doctored so much that she looks more like a lifeless china doll than an actual human being. Looks like the magazine let their junior photo editor take a crack at this one -- and he went way overboard.
I think most people accept that this kind of photo manipulation is part of the game, but this is just stupid.
To make matters worse, it appears Ashlee didn't even pose for the cover. According to her publicist:
"Ashlee in no way posed for Complete Woman or ever gave them an interview. They apparently purchased outtakes from an old photo shoot years ago and elected on their own to retouch the photo as they wanted to. This supposed 'magazine' has never reached out to us and we did not cooperate with them in any way at all."
Lame.

How do you know that the Junior Photo Editor is a man? Are you a teeny bit sexist?

Hey Peacock your right LOL
These magazines have got to stop this crap they have got to stop doctoring these pictures ( 1) they are saying the person they are taking photos of is not good enough and will never be good enough so you women who pose for these pics are not to bright to allow this ! if the magazines dont want real dont use a real person as a model (2) little girls/young women see this and actually believe they can look like this and strive to and wont be able to . all these jerks who make these photos are setting these girls up for failure and mental stress (3) all boys/ young men who see this photo are going to be looking for these perfect females and NO woman is going to be good enough cause she is real !!!! so your setting young men up for failure in relationships and how they percieve and treat women .
Nice going to all the magazines that do this !!!!! whats next ?????

I don't think it looks like the photo of Gweneth was so much photoshopped, as her makeup artist took alot of artistic liberty and did her makeup completely different than we have ever seen.

Amen! It's one thing to speak out against unrealistic (and frankly, frightening!) images on our magazine covers, but quite another to downplay the artistic ability of photographers and makeup artists. Not every beautiful picture has had cosmetic distortion. Kudos.

I just posted a story about extreme Photoshopped girls over at my blog and how crazy it has gotten. It's really out of control these days.. And that software will only get more advanced..

Ashlee is a beautiful young woman anyhow. She doesn't need to be airbrushed.

I suppose if you care about just how celebrities appear, this matters. As far as celebrities go, all that really matters is if they can sing or act. What about the other celebrities that the media has latched on to? Well, that's the fault of the bread & circuses types who pander to the lowest common denominator in public taste.

NOW SHE WILL BE GOING UNDER THE KNIFE (AGAIN) UNTIL SHE CAN MATCH THE OVERDONE, CRAFTED MAGAZINES TO WHAT SHE ACTUALLY SEES IN THE MIRROR. THIS IS A PLASTIC WORLD RUN BY PEOPLE WHO THINKS THEY KNOW WHAT "STARS" NEED TO LOOK LIKE. FREAKY, I THINK I SAW THIS ON ONEOF THE OLD TWILIGHT ZONE RERUNS!!! IF I WAS ONE OF THESE "STARS", I WOULD NOT BE FLATTERED TO THINK THAT TO BE SHOWN ON ANY COVER, MY PHOTO NEEDED HUGE AMOUNTS OF WORK!

It is so sad that we don't appreciate the true beauty of real women anymore. When you're resorting to photoshopping even young people, there's something wrong here. The message that we're sending is that no one real person could ever be pretty enough or good enough without
looking like a robot.
