How to spark pregnancy rumors: Angelina Jolie

Filed under: Vintage and Retro, Celebrities with Style

Just in case you were bored and wanted people to start whispering, "Is she preggers?" I'm offering you a perfect way to get said rumor started, courtesy of Angelina Jolie.

Angie and partner Brad Pitt showed up at this year's SAG awards looking, well ... nice, but rather expect-y. You'll notice I'm not saying expecting, because there's no bigger gaff than to say a woman is expecting when she's not. Seriously. But, the rumors, they are a-flyin', and Angelina seems to be playing them up from her amplified bustline to her non-existent waistline.

Why does this dress play to the preggers rumors? Let me tell you:

SAG Awards Red Carpet

(click thumbnails to view gallery)

  • Nice tent, Angie!
  • Eva works the SAG red carpet
  • Kate Beckinsale brightens up a dreary day
  • Teri Hatcher is anything but Desperate
  • Color me gorgeous

  • I won't deny that it's a beautiful dress -- it is -- it's vintage Hermes, and who am I to mess with that? However, it goes against Angelina's style. She tends more towards black and fitted, and this flowing frock (along with the voluptuousness -- ahem -- with which she accentuates said frock) fuel talk that Angie's expecting a baby! No! Twins! No! Sextuplets!

  • Anything on a thin woman with a larger bust that doesn't tuck in at the waist at all will be sure to spark certain rumors. The thing is, a gown that drapes from the upper portions can be utterly fabulous (check out Amanda Bynes), but it can also leave everyone wondering what's going on under the gown. This gown does just that.

  • Now, assuming she is trying to hide a baby bump (albeit unsuccessfully, but God-willing this isn't something she chose without reason, vintage Hermes or not), I've got to give her props on the hair and makeup she chose with this gown. IF you choose to go with a flowing frock to "hide" your possible pregnancy (or just the fact that you ate a couple extra tacos on your recent vacation to the West Coast -- not that I did that or anything), you have to take notice of her accessories. The hair is flowing, the makeup is minimal, and the simple jewelry doesn't take away from the fact that SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE'S TOTALLY HAVING BRAD'S SEXTUPLETS!!!
And let's all be serious for a moment. If we looked like we were having Brad Pitt's sextuplets, would we really try to hide it? I think not.
