Andre 3000 launches clothing line

Andre 3000 is bravely going where no rapper has ever gone before. Oh, wait, that's wrong. They've all gone there before. From 50 Cent to P-Diddy, what rapper these days doesn't have his own clothing line? Andre Benjamin, aka Andre 3000 from Outkast, will be just another one of many to join the fashion ranks when he launches his new line called Benjamin Bixby.

Andre describes the clothes as being suited for a "rebel gentleman," full of "classic spontaneity." He claims he's not just another entertainer, in it for the money, but that fashion is a true passion of his. Andre says, "I know there's a trend of entertainers doing clothing lines but I think they do it more as a business move. But for me, I actually love clothes and feel like I have something to bring to the table."

I think he's right, he does have a lot to bring to the table. He's often been on best dressed lists, and if anything else, his clothing choices have always made people talk. Just take a look at the above Outkast video for Hey Ya, or think back to the outfits that Andre has worn to premieres and events. It's easy to see that for Andre, it's about more than just bling and baggy pants. A lot of time, thought and effort goes into carefully crafting his image and expressing himself through the clothes he wears.

And Andre has put that same amount of effort into his new line. He did the sketches himself, and even went so far as to go to Italy and Paris for textile fairs. The fashion world better watch out. Andre is funding the line himself for now, and is currently searching to find a partner, but I have a feeling pretty soon people will be banging his door down.
