From red carpet to your closet: Anne Hathaway at the 2008 Oscars

Filed under: Clothing, Celebrities with Style, Red Carpet Trends

Anne Hathaway showed up at the 2008 Academy Awards in two of the night's hottest trends -- a bright red dress and a one-shoulder neckline.

You might be thinking, "Sure, she looked great, but what does that have to do with me? I don't foresee a red carpet in my future," but you're missing a big fashion point. Red carpet fashion doesn't only dictate, well, red carpet fashion -- the trends we see on at the Academy Awards have an impact on all fashion.

So how can you rock Anne's red hot style? Let me tell you!
  • Red is hot -- As already stated, red is a huge trend this year, and you certainly can work that into your wardrobe. If you're not confident about wearing a full dress or shirt in the bright hue, at least consider accessorizing in red.
  • Flower power -- We know it's coming in the Sex and the City movie, and now we've seen it on the red carpet, so it's official -- flowers will be IN this spring. Look for floral motifs in brooches and jewelry to make a big impact -- you can dress up even the simplest outfit with just a bloom!
  • Pretty pony -- Anne's hair is simply pulled back in a ponytail, but it's really elegant for two reasons. First, it's pulled back softly, and not slicked back. Second, her hair is in beautiful, bouncy curls, which never go out of style for luxurious locks like hers.
