Lauren Conrad's Bella collection

Lauren Conrad is such an awesome designer that she gets, not one, but two Spring collections! Her first, City of Angels was lukewarmly received. Most people I talked to thought the clothes were cute, but overpriced. And the second collection, Bella, is no different.

I do think L.C. has great style. Of all the girls on reality t.v. she's one of the few that doesn't dress like a two dollar hooker and at least tries to keep things classy while she's stumbling out of B-listed night clubs at 3 in the morning. She wears simple yet flattering outfits. And that's basically what her Bella collection is -- very basic, cute (mostly) dresses with a few tops thrown in the mix. It's not an earth shattering formula.

  • Scarf $25
  • Natalie Dress $130
  • Lexi Tank $88
  • Lala Dress $110
  • Kiki Tank $84

But, the prices are a bit ridiculous. For example, who would buy a simple white, floor length halter dress for $185, when you could find the same thing at Target for $20? Although in L.C. world I'm sure she considers her prices more than reasonable, I'm not sure who in her target market could afford these clothes. They're too expensive for the "normal" people of the world. And while they're at celebrity prices, I'm not sure there's anything unique enough in this line that any celebrity besides L.C. herself would actual wear. Seriously, $88 for a Lauren Conrad basic tanktop?!? You have got to be kidding me. She's no Marc Jacobs. L.C. can't just slap her name on something and think that ups the value.

On a side note, she should probably fire whoever writes the clothing descriptions for her website. Talking about the Kiki Tank, the site reads, "It is adorable with it's eyelet trim along the top of the top." That's poetic, really.

Browse through the gallery and tell me, what's your verdict on L.C.'s Bella collection?
