Wild Woman: Safari Chic

'Safari Chic' is a one of Spring 2008's leading trends. The safari trend is nothing new but this season there is definitely a new spin on it. The look isn't as rugged and boxy as it has been in past seasons. In 2008 more structured cargo pieces are being paired with draped pieces to soften the look. Some of my favorite pieces for spring come from some of the hottest contemporary designers around:

3.1 Phillip Lim Oversized safari cardigan
The safari look is hot for spring 08 and this cardigan is perfect if you only wanted to buy one piece for this trend. Wear it with a dress, or wear it as a dress. I bet this cardigan would look good over jeans or even gray pants.

Tom Ford Aviator sunglasses

When I think about safari I think about aviators and when I think about chic I think Tom Ford. Put them all together and what do you got? Yep, you guessed it 'Safari Chic.'

Maison Martin Margiela Bamboo knitted long cardigan
This bamboo cardigan is pretty freaking sweet. Every wardrobe needs a new go-to comfy sweater each spring for those chilly nights.

Helmut Lang Draped racer tank top
The safari trend used to be all brown and khaki but this spring 2008 season gray has been added into the mix. I love the idea of mixing this draped piece with a more structured cargo jacket.

Alice + Olivia Sequin Panel Tank Dress
This is an example of a safari looks that is much more fun. Alice + Olivia have added their signature sequins to this khaki pocket dress.

Dolce & Gabbana Safari Shorts

You can't go on a safari without fashionable shorts. I love these from Dolce & Gabbana they will stay stylish for years and years to come.
