Woman stabbed by Victoria's Secret bra
Filed under: Swimwear and Lingerie
We bet you had no idea that a bra could be life threatening did you? Well, it can. A woman in Greenville, S.C. had a near life threatening experience with her Victoria's Secret lingerie.Jessica Lang, bought a bra with underwire and was wearing it a few days later when she began to experience discomfort. She tried to take the bra off and the underwire broke through the fabric and cut her. Originally the lawsuit said the cut was "six inches wide and six inches deep," but that was later amended to say the cut was, "3 inches x 1/4 inch deep."
The complaint alleges that the bra was, "so negligently and carelessly designed, manufactured, constructed, assembled, inspected, and sold the brassiere that it was dangerous and unsafe for its intended uses."
Victoria's Secret responded saying that the negligence was on the bra user's part, aka, it was her own fault she got hurt.
Oh, and part of the reason that Jessica is seeking damages is because she was so injured that she had to miss work for several days. When she tried to go back to her job she was fired. We understand if she didn't want to tell her boss where she was. Jessica was probably too embarrassed to say she was stabbed by a bra. Kind of like my dog ate my homework, that one's a little hard to explain.

For the cut to be six inches long and six inches deep she would have had to have had a tiny ninja pop out of the bra and slice her lol. I saw it said it was amended but still...it was just a funny thought.

Seriously -- a cut like that would go through one side of my arm and out the other side. Ha!

Hey, a girl's got to exaggerate a little to get her pay day!

I do know that I have purchased bra's from Victoria Secret in the past and spent over $50. on a few of them and I have come to find out they are not the best quality at all. The underwires do poke out within just a few months. They also have fallen apart on many occasions. Very cheaply made. I do love their underwear though.

Getting stabbed is just a price you have to pay for the support of an underwire bra. I have had many underwires break and give me a little stab. I never thought to sue, I just took out the wire and got on with it.

Well so funny I was just thinking the other day how my Victoria Secrets bra that is 12 yrs. old is the best one and never pokes me. I was just thinking I need to go back and get some more from VS. When I was pregnant with my son my dad took me there to buy some bras. I think how nice of him. He passed away in 2004 and it is my favorite bra and is dear to me. My son is 12 yrs. old that is how I know how old it is! God love you daddy and thank you for that special day.

underwire bras tend to do that. that's why i try to not wear them. the VS Ipex wireless bra is a VERY GOOD bra. well constructed and does the job - supports the twins - which is hard to come by in wireless bras. i suggest that she tries one of those. but it's silly to sue over such a thing. and if your "injury" was bad enough to miss work, you CAN get a dr's note and that should be sufficent enough for your boss. she's just a greedy lil so and so who wants a pay day. thanks alot! since i'm in NC, i KNOW the price of the VS bras here is gonna go up to pay her ass. ugh! i do hope the judge tosses it. this is a bad waste of our tax dollars, which will lead to another price hike in the consumer sector. not cool!

I have had the same problem with numerous Victoria's Secret bras, but never complained about it. Also, I don't think this is really an injury. She could have used some bandaids and gone to work.

Well, i've never worn a Victoria's Secret bra, but some of the ones i currently wear have wires and have never broken. They're also pretty comfortable but of course, as most bras i suppose, you have to wash them by hand. You should try brands like Chantelle, Felina Lingerie, and Wacoal =}

this hits so close to home. everyone rants & raves about how wonderful victoria secret is...when in reality, it's no better than a hanes or any other bra. only difference, i've never had problems with underwire in other bras. i've actually had underwire from one vs bra snap while i was wearing it & poke me in the chest. i also had gotten bad bruising from another vs bra. not normal bruising. so bad that i actually thought i had cancer. being that bruising is a sign of cancer, i was referred to get a mammogram. talk about STRESS!! all over a bra. i agree that they aren't manufactured well.
