Zappos vs. Heels

We have long loved Zappos for having great features, like 110% price matching and free overnight shipping (you know, for those times when you have to have those shoes tomorrow or you will just die).

Alas, the love affair is over. Zappos has dropped their price protection and free overnight shipping, saying that they want to concentrate more on customer service rather than discounts.

Hmph. Here's the thing -- we're already shopping online as opposed to going to a department store, so it seems to us as though we're already opting for a less personal shopping experience. To ditch two of the things for which the company has become so well-known (and well-loved) seems like, well ... not such a smart plan. How much customer service are they expecting to provide via the internet? Are they going to bring us a latte while we sit at our desk shopping?

Fortunately, you're not out of luck if you're looking for the best price -- Heels.com offers a 115% price match and free next day shipping. That's the kind of customer service we dig!
