What do high heels and 600 pound gorillas have in common?

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Celebrities with Style

There's no doubt that we love the way our legs look in extremely high heels -- put us in a 4" or 5" heel, and we'll show you legs that seem to go on forever, like our pal Gwyneth Paltrow over to the right. However, the New York Times recently had an article about the high, high heel and how women walk in them.

And, of course, the answer is the same as how one would move a 600 pound gorilla -- very carefully.

Stars and models are often seen sporting heels nearing half a foot in height, and the very logistics are tough to compute. Without a bit of a platform, any woman who doesn't have Paris Hilton-size feet ends up right on her toes in order to wear heels so high. But, you know, if it makes her legs look long and thin (and she doesn't wipe out), it's totally worth it, right?

However, even when women practice walking in them and then walk very carefully, mistakes can happen.

So, we've got to ask: What's the highest heel you've ever worn? And did you wear them successfully, or did your hot shoes cause a big problem? Be sure to check out the gallery to see the heels some celebrities wear on the red carpet -- it's truly inspiring!
