Amy Winehouse following the heroin chic footsteps of Kate Moss

Reports have surfaced that Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty are working together in the studio. Assuming, of course, that "working together" is code for "meeting our dealer" we can expect to hear that new single a week from never.

We blame Kate Moss for this latest union of crazy druggies. She is responsible on multiple levels.

First she and her scrawny model ilk made "druggishly pale and wan" into a hot and trendy look instead of an intervention trigger. Then she had that operatic affair with Pete Doherty, filled with dramatic betrayals and photos. Now everyone wants to accessorize with a junkie boyfriend.

Kate's always stumbling around, looking glamourously wasted like it's still 1970-something. Amy's look is more 60s, but the idea is the same. Retro-high-chic.

Of course Amy Winehouse totally idolizes Kate. In a way, we all do. Even her last hideous line with Top Shop was a huge success, just because of her name cachet. Someone was out there buying it. And by someone I mean all of us.

Ironically most of us can't pull of those looks without the help of coke, heroin or a serious laxative habit. And none of us, Amy Winehouse included, have Kate's party stamina. It's like she got an infusion of Keith Richards' blood when she turned 18, and it keeps her young and (relatively) fresh, regardless of her debauchery.

So if Amy is following in Kate's footsteps, how long until we see a Winehouse "designer" clothing line? We're holding out breath...but that's just because Pete Doherty smells so bad. Probably the clothing line won't come out until after Amy completes a couple rounds of rehab. So, like, not for a couple of years. But it's coming.
