Burberry drops Agyness Deyn

Wow. How quick the mighty have fallen.

It seems as if it were just yesterday that we began ragging on supermodel Agyness Deyn's coveted and contrived grunge style, gasping over her dethronement of Kate Moss on top Tatler's best dressed list, and giggling because of the party that's being thrown in honor of a life-sized mannequin that bares her resemblance.

In some way, we feel as though we've become imaginary best friends with the Manchester babe. Applauding her for all of the fashion triumphs on the red carpet and calling her out on those white Dr. Martens.

So, it made us kind of sad when we first caught word that Agyness was being dropped from the Burberry campaign. Rumor has it that photographer Mario Testino, who chooses the models for the campaign, is sick of seeing her face:

"She was just a flash in the pan. Last year she was quirky but now she is challenging [Kate] Moss in the fame stakes by positioning herself everywhere. That kind of popularity just hasn't sat well with Mario, who is looking for something different."

It struck us as odd when Agyness Deyn skipped the Met Costume Gala a couple of weeks ago -- siding to jump out of windows naked for a European fashion magazine rather than sitting at a table with Burberry's designer Christopher Bailey. But now it looks like as though her invitation must have gotten lost in the trash. Even worse, Dean is being replaced by the younger pillow-y lipped Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Ouch!

But we won't shed tears for the model citizen. We're sure that there are still some brave souls in the fashion industry that value someone with personality and charm.
