Tip of the day: Learn how to look like you're supposed to be milking cows

Filed under: Hair Care, Style Tip of the Day

It seems like easy breezy boho is here to stay, which makes us lazy folk very happy. We've all had a couple of years to get this look down pat but we haven't quite figured out what to do with our hair. That is until the fateful day we spotted a handful of starlets like Ashley Olsen, Nicole Richie, Sienna Miller, and Rachel Bilson supporting a milkmaid braid. Gloooorious.

Creating this style is a lot easier than it looks because it relies on your natural hair texture. To start:

• Condition and rinse with cool water to add shine. Or for all you grease monkeys out there, give it a whirl on your second day hair.

• Apply a styling lotion for hair that tends to poof or texturizer for thin strands and then blow dry with your hands, not a brush. This is one of those moments, as rare as MKO stuffing her face, that we can actually say, "Flyaways, you're alright."

Now for that milkmaid braid:

Updo Version

• Start with Punky Brewster pigtails that are just above and to the back of the ears. Don't worry – it gets better.

• Put each in a loose, thick braid. Be warned – if they are too small and tight you won't be able to see them as well when they're done.

• Take the right braid and pull it over to the left side and vice versa.

• Use the braids to hide the ends by tucking them under. At this point your hair and bobbi pins should become one in holy hair matrimony.

Half up, tousled version

• Take a thick piece of hair above your ears about an inch tall and wide to start. There should still be unbraided hair at the top of the head once the look is complete to ensure that "I'm a celebrity so I don't have to brush my hair" look.

• Braid loosely and make sure both sides match up.

• Pull the braids over right to left, left to right. Just like the updo version.

• And again like the updo version, use the braids and your bestie Bobbi to help you hide the ends.

• Last, create rumpled height by backcombing at the crown.
