if you have a muffin top than your pants are too tight! Buy pants that actually fit and then this wouldn't be an issue for you and other women! Just because low rise jeans are a trend doesn't mean that it will flatter every person and that everyone should be wearing them!! ughhh so gross
Fash 6-13-2008 @ 10:49AM
Jeans that fit are probably one of the easiest ways. Seriously, I am clueless as to why the entire nation has continued to carry a trend that's unflattering on 98% of those who wear it.

Those of us in the "mom crowd" are usually accused of wearing jeans that have a high rise like this http://msinformedblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/momjeans.jpg
I see muffin tops on thin girls (late teens & early 20s) as well as those that should seek something more figure flattering. Butt cracks and flab just aren't a good look. When are these people going to wake up to that?

If you're young and/or older but built such that you DON'T have a muffin top, lucky you, exercise and eat healthy to keep it that way for as long as you can. If you haven't kept up that part of your figure, or have let it get out of hand, then camouflage with light, attractive tops and be careful of tight waistbands on pants and skirts. And remember - Spanx is a great brand for just about anything - age isn't an issue, but health and (face it) vanity sure are. xo

When I used to get dressed it was all about how I can hide this flaw and that flaw. I recently lost 50 pounds and I hae a lot more choices. Be that as it may...low low pants do not flatter anyone that has had a kid or that has any kind of figure! I love my Levis 518's and 504's which are low but not ridiculous. Good old levis are great!
I lost the weight after years of struggle by weight watchers http://www.weightwatchers.com. Their new program rocks. And by wearing smartsole anti-cellulite insoles which increase the amount of calories you burn with every step. http://www.smatsole.com I found a coupon code that give you 15% off too. It is SMART15 I also love to wear spanx panties under my clothing which holds everything in oh so tight!

I appreciate the smartsole. Figured out the link was not right and just added the missing letter. Looks like a godsend for me.
Now on the muffin tops and low hipped pants. I'm 43 and have lost 74 pounds by walking and strenuous workouts along with massive swimming. I have the figure I had in high school again. I have 4 children. I do wear the low rise pants. My husband actually has this comment. He thinks it's more in how the person is proportioned on if they can wear these pants. I have a 44-26-36 figure. As he said they are really only made for women with hourglass figures. Believe me he would never let me wear anything that looks bad. He's not one of those husbands that just agree. He knows I want to look my utmost best so gives me honest opinions about clothes before I buy them. They are comfortable to me and I have no muffin top with them. It really is all in how you are built. My son's 20 yr old girlfriend who is tiny should never wear them. I have to say I agree with him on his observation.
Bravo on your weight loss! It certainly IS worth the work to wear cute clothes again! :D
gynger 6-13-2008 @ 11:14PM
Why, oh, why, do they not use models for this story that actually have a muffin top?!?! It's hard to imagine how these things really work if they show it on a size 0!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, because stores and designers don't show their clothing on women with that problem.

I don't have a muffin top, I have an entire cake around my midsection. I didn't have that until I went through menopause. Love not having to deal with that anymore, but I now have a classic apple figure. I look short and round.... wonder what I can do to camoflage all that, other than growing about 6-8 inches taller.... LOL

Well, lol...here's my two cents. I'm alot older now, but for the past several years, I've worn 'overalls'...not the constuction kind..but cute corduroy and denim ones. Some even have Pooh or Disney stuff. You CAN actually pull off a sexy look with these, WITHOUT disgusting ppl with your 'muffin top'..lol. I've had compliments for years, and all I say is...'they hide a MULTITUDE of flaws'.!
Thanks : )

Forget what you heard and saw. Everything is NOT okay for everyBODY. What looks good on me probably won't look all that good on you. If you weigh 100lbs and are 5'5" and I weigh 100lbs and am 5'11" the apple bottoms on me and the apple
bottoms on you will tell a very different story. The mirror really is there for a reason. Please look in it before you go out and force every one else to see
that you tried tooo Hard to get into those jeans.

I think it is amazing how lots of women will wear something just because the clothing companies put them out as the lastest style. They don't stop to realize how they look in it. These companies are smart!! They made these pants and jeans that after wearing them for a few months make women look like they are 5 - 8 months pregnant. The pants are so tight on the bottom part of their stomach it forces everything to the top. There is no support to hold the top in so it bulges out. At first they wore short tops to show their belly buttons. JUST LOOK AROUND YOU NOW, the clothing companies are making cute little maternity tops to hide those big bellies. We now have LOTS of young women from 13 to 45 running around pregnant. (or at least look like it).
There are a few young women that look great in these jeans and they are the ones that take pride in their apperance. They are conscience of their weight and do not have all that extra weight to hang out.
In case you are wondering, I am a 71 year old great grandma and I have always been very conscience of my weight. I get a lot of excerise gardening, eat what I want, just eat healthy.

What I appreciate about this article is the humor that bonds us.
I love the blogger who said she not only has a muffin top, she has a whole cake around her waist. I was always trim and fit but when I hit menopause and after, it kicked my butt.
