Admit it, when Paula Abdul had to wear a sling and have surgery -- and lost her thumbnail! -- because of her wacky nail salon fungus problem, you were scared.

We all were.

The question is, what did you do about it? We considered investing in our own set of manicure tools. But that's pricey, and you have to remember to bring them with you.

We checked out our regular places, and they all have autoclaves and make a production of taking the tools out of special packages for each customer. Plus there is so much of the blue disinfectant swishing around that we're almost more scared of the chemicals.
