Anya Hindmarch Spring 2008

Most commonly known for her environment-friendly I'm Not a Plastic Bag creation (the tote that caused otherwise rational human beings to lose their minds in Whole Foods stores across America last year), Anya Hindmarch is an accessory designer on the rise.

Last year, Anya's countryman bestowed upon her several of its highest honors: Designer Brand of The Year by the British Fashion Council and Designer of the Year by Glamour magazine.

And just this past week, Target announced it would be teaming up with the Essex native and exquisite shoe cobblers Sigerson Morrision for a couple of diffusion lines that will run from October 12th to December, 26th 2008.

Suffice it so say, Anya is on roll. So before the price tags of her prized handbags began to reflect her now found stardom, its time to put those stimulus checks to good use!

For spring, the designer pays homage to the seventies with an effortlessly chic and predominately neutral toned collection with flashes of metallics and bold colors like purple and burnt orange that are complimentary of the warm weather season. Our favorite pieces are the metallic clutches: 1) They're adorable and simple in design and 2) as Sex and The City stylist Patricia Fields says, "I love metallics because they're neutral and go with everything. It's disguised as a novelty, but really, it's a classic. To me, it's like leopard print, it's classic, it never goes away."

And when you're investing a few extra bucks in a well-made piece, it's nice to know that it will coordinate nicely with all of your outfits.

PS: Anya also makes equally amazing flats and bejeweled heels in her free time. Check them out in our gallery.
