Would you dye your eyelashes?

We looove long, dark, sexy eyelashes. Love them, love them, love them. We have no qualms about layering on the mascara, or even using false lashes should the occasion call for it. In fact, if we had the funds, we would probably be devotees of eyelash extensions. However, when we read about dying our eyelashes, we were a little surprised.
The writer of the article has pale but long lashes, so she decided to get her eyelashes dyed back in 1999 and hasn't looked back since. She was frustrated with the tiny little bit of pale lash that was still apparent after using mascara, and even if she used false eyelashes, she was annoyed by the flash of blond lash that was still there.
She insists that the vegetable dye isn't harmful to eyes, and that, once you're used to the process, you rarely get any dye in your eyes. However, it's a process that must be done professionally, most likely in a spa -- do not try to do this at home!!! We think we'll probably stick to coating on the mascara, but we're curious -- would you dye your lashes?

I would dye my eyelashes - in fact I plan on it soon. It's perfect for people with long, but light lashes. It has to be done professionally and it lasts for about 4 weeks. The process is quick and not that expensive.

This isn't anything new. I did this back in 1969. I hadn't seen any eyelash dye on the market in years.

I Have dyed my eyelashes. I have naturally blonde hair and eyebrows, and when I go swimming or to the beach, it's scary. Waterproof mascara doesn't stay on, and I want to look great even without make-up. I feel comfortable without make-up, but the light blonde lashes make me look unnatural. I've done it a couple of times before going to the beach, and I love the way it looks.
I don't pay to get it done regularly, it's usually $25-35 each time and grows out as your lashes do, but I will continue to do it when I am planning on swimming.
If you think it's a crazy idea, you probably don't have light blonde or red hair, otherwise, you are probably considering it right now. I do agree it's a Not-at-home thing though. It could be dangerous if not done properly.

LoL! Smart cookie! I was just thinking to myself "Wellllll..... It Would be kind of nice to get a benefit from my long-yet-invisible-lashes."
Seriously: blonde-invisible. And my head's a chestnut!
Quick note and a little off-topic, but do other people w/ lashes like mine also have a sparcely populated lower lid? It's not like there're people I can ask ... that I know of anyway.
Thanx!

Hmm. When I was having chemotherapy, most of my eyelashes fell out, and the ones that didn't turned blonde and extremely fine. It was so frustrating, because they were so fine that all my mascara clumped and looked horrible. So I would have considered it then, if I knew it existed. Instead I bought a Guerlain mascara for $35, lol. Also would have considered eyebrow dying, if such a thing exists, ha ha! Fortunately, I am cancer-free now:)

I would definitely consider it. I have dark brown hair that is turning grey prematurely. It is beginning to include my eyebrows and eyelashes. I will probably dye them when mascara no longer covers the greys.

The thing is, dying makes them darker, but not longer or thicker. So, if you have so-so lashes, they'll still be so-so. I've dyed mine a few times and always wound up disappointed and back on the Great Lash in a few days. Although if you're super blonde/pale and doing a beach vacation it's sort of worth it to not look totally washed out at the pool.
And KechupFiend and Emily -- brow tinting does exist! It is a wonderful thing, especially if you're going grey (ahem) and dye your hair dark (erhm, guilty) and your brows are light. But, I caution you, do not do it at home! Have an esthetician tint and shape your brows, it costs $20-40, depending on where you live. You will love it!

I'm totally surprised at how many people are familiar with this! I guess I'm lucky -- my lashes are pretty dark, so I'd never considered it. But I did look at having my eyebrows colored when my hair was really blonde, and Cat's totally right -- it's GOT to be done by a pro, but it's easy to find and not all that expensive.

In the middle east women have dyes their lashes with Henna or Kol for centuries. Did it myself when I was younger. No harm done
