Tip of the day: Best drugstore mascaras

Over the last decade that we've been wearing makeup (yeah we had one of those dad's that forbid it until we were 16... laaaaame), we have probably tested every single mascara available at our local drugstore – no kidding. We had a great time testing over the years, particularly during a brief period of CVS employment that was strictly for the cosmetic discount. It was basically a crazed 2 month makeup rampage... ahhh the memories.
So after all of this time, we are pleased to share our findings with you.
Here are the top five mascaras, all under $10, and guaranteed to lengthen, volumize, plump, darken, extend, increase, elongate... and whatever else you need your mascara to do.
Best Daytime: Maybelline Great Lash – It wouldn't be a complete list without it. The most undemanding mascara ever. Perfect for day. Washes off easily. Costs less than 5 bucks ($4.79 to be exact).
Best Volumizing: Maybelline Full n' Soft – A lash thickening super power for $7.29. Used by Hollywood makeup artist Mally Roncal on lovelies like Beyonce.
Best Lengthening: L'Oreal Telescopic – Truly extends lashes to their longest lengths. Plus with a spokesmodel as gorgeous as Penelope Cruz, how could you refuse? $8.99
Best Colored: Almay Bring Out The (insert eye color here) – Subtly colored mascaras that intensify eye color. Colors are not kooky and crazy. Cost is only $7.49.
Best All Around: Cover Girl Lash Blast – Admittedly we are creepily obsessed with Drew Barrymore so we tried this new product she endorses and it is as good as they say... whoever 'they' is. Fat wand helps de-clump. Fat orange tube is easy to grip and find in makeup case. Lashes come out long, full and spidery. $8.49.
