Tip of the day: Shadow for your shape
Filed under: Cosmetics, Style Tip of the Day

Did you know that most makeup tips try to work the eye into an almond shape? It's true. The shape is considered the most flattering and extremely exotic. However, the tips often don't take into consideration those with deep set, wide set, small eyes, round eyes, or heavily hooded eyes. And if you wear glasses? Puh-lease, you'll never find info for that! Except for here that is.
Most women aren't happy with the way something or other looks – fact. Rather than trying to enhance what they have, they often try to change it; ie: said tips for almond shaped eyes. Ah, throw all of that out the window and start fresh. Do what works for you and enhance your natural assets rather than trying to cover them up.
Round
Ever heard the term bright eyed and bushy tailed? That applies to us westerners when it comes to makeup. Since your eyes are already wide open, its ideal to use a darker shadow to really make them smoke and a lighter, matte color beneath the brow bone to frame.
Small
If you've got small peepers, don't go on product overload to make them look larger. Instead apply a very light shadow with a slightly darker color the crease and apply mascara. Lengthening formulas will help open them up and appear larger.
Glasses
If you wear glasses, you don't need to add emphasis with crazy colors. You'd just look kooky. Plus your eyes are already emphasized because of your glasses. Therefore all you have to do is enhance with a neutral shadow that is close to your skin tone and add a swipe of volumizing mascara to really open those babies up.
Wide set
If your eyes are wide set, you want to forget the rule of dotting some lighter shadow on the inner corner. You've already got that naturally! Instead, apply a darker hue in the corner to bring them together. You can also opt to apply a shadow all over and then a darker color in the corner of the crease – just be sure you don't extend past the eye which will make them look even wider.
Deep set
Many who have deep set eyes actually deep set them further by using dark, heavy shades on their lids. Uh-uh! Go for light shades like creamy whites or pastels to make eyes appear larger. Widen them further by touching the inner corner with a white powder and lining from the corner to just a bit past the outer edge.
Hooded
You've got the task of making your eyes appear more up and out. For the out sweep a lighter shadow from lid to brow bone and then a slightly darker hue in the outer half of the crease. Draw on a light liner and even go for a slight cat eye to turn them up even more. For the up, apply lengthening mascara to finish the look.
