Karl Lagerfeld stops French traffic

"It's yellow, it's ugly, it doesn't go with anything, but it could save your life."

This is the tag line on France's new road-safety campaign for summer, which they've asked their super iconic countryman, Karl Lagerfeld, to star in.

Wearing his normal attire of a black suit, dark sunglasses, and fingerless gloves, Lagerfeld dons a fluorescent reflective safety vest in the ads in an effort to encourage "drivers to equip themselves with security vests and triangles."

Hmm. We're going to assume that they do some pretty major driving in Europe because we couldn't imagine donning one of these with our girlfriends as we make our way out at night.

But that aside, we think Karl would have been more useful combating another problem plaguing the good people of France: Smoking. If Karl could do for the campaign against smoking what he did for stars and stripes last season, he might be able to rid the majority of the country from their bad habit. Viva la Karl!
