Air McFly's soon to be reality!
The totally awesome shoes from the future that Michael J. Fox wore in Back to the Future 2 have been post fodder for nerdy Internet fashionistas for years. In fact, there's even been a well-organized campaign to rally support for the "Air McFlys" -- a grassroots attempt to sway an enormous multi-national corporation, all so these exceptionally devoted fans could finally own this famous footwear.
As you might suspect, for a long time this campaign fell on deaf ears -- after all, Nike is in the business of making money, not appeasing geeks with time on their hands. But now the latest news is that a version of these sought-after shoes will finally be made available -- only, instead of the 2015s we remember from the movie, the sportswear giant is releasing a more traditional-looking homage to the sci-fi classics: the Hyperdunk.
The good stuff: endorsed by NBA star Kobe Bryant, the new kicks will be made of "Flywire technology" (read: ultra-light material so you can run faster, jump higher, etc).
The bad stuff: no power laces! We're sure having mechanized laces in sneakers would completely defeat the purpose of using all that super-light material, but still -- the laces were the best part! Sigh.
Keep an eye out for the new Hyperdunks -- they should hit stores by the end of July.

Hey there…
That’s me driving Kobe in the time machine. I’m not even a basketball fan and he was super cool. An absolute gentleman.
Great event, great sneaker, great guy!
I only wish they would’ve let me friggin buy a pair. They’re not kidding about “limited release!”
If anyone knows how to get some… size 11 please!
