Love David Yurman but cringe at the price? Get "inspired" instead!

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News

Slightly less reprehensible than stealing from independent designers, designer knock-offs still exist in a moral gray area. While police are cracking down on counterfeit handbag makers and sellers in New York, websites like Finders Keepers openly sell costume jewelry "inspired" by luxury designers like David Yurman and John Hardy.

It seems to us that the line in the sand is whether or not the item is trying to pass as the real thing. That fake Burberry bag might pass muster at the Junior League lunch, but any lady worth her pearls will be able to spot these fake David Yurman pieces a mile away. Two miles away!

Real vs. Fake David Yurman Jewelry

  • Real David Yurman Cable Bracelet with Blue Topaz & Diamond End Caps
  • David Yurman-inspired Hinged Translucent Cuff - Ice Blue
  • Real David Yurman Confetti Bangle, Blue Topaz
  • David Yurman-inspired Stretch Bracelet - Amethyst
  • Real David Yurman Onyx Earrings

That said, Finders Keepers is laudably candid about the source of their ideas, and you have to admit, the prices are waaaaaay more affordable than real David Yurman items. If you're into heavy gold and silver, twisted around chunky gemstones but can't justify $2,250 for a bracelet, then $9.99 probably sounds pretty tempting.

See if you're tempted, with real David Yurman in the gallery paired with their design dopplegangers. Like the pearl ladies, you'll easily see the difference, but at these prices, will you care?
