Gwen Stefani's ruby slipper design plan

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News, Shoes, Celebrities with Style, Style for a Cause

Every woman should have her own version of the ruby slipper, and Gwen Stefani, along with 18 other designers, is getting a chance to design her own interpretation of Dorothy's famous The Wizard of Oz ruby slippers.

Stefani was chosen by Warner Bros. Consumer Products and CRYSTALLIZED(TM) Swarovski Elements to create a version of Dorothy's kicks to mark the 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz.

This September, Saks Fifth Avenue in New York will hold a special event to unveil The Wizard of Oz Ruby Slipper Collection. In addition to a pair of shoes designed by Stefani, shoes designed by Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik and more will be on display as part of New York Fashion Week. After that, the ruby slippers will be taken all around the country and then auctioned off to benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
