Fashions from Bizarre-O World: eye jewelry
Filed under: Accessories
Tired of boring old earrings? Think facial piercings pase? If you're ready for a new way to bejewel your body but can't stand the thought of being traditional, here's a look for you:
Eye jewelry.
Created by UK artist Eric Lauren Beck, these odd adornments are actually hanging from contact lenses. While a little grotesque, we think these are surprisingly (and strangely!) compelling. The question is: are they cute enough to wear...or just a little too creepy?

This is just gross. I can't imagine any Optometrist or Opthamologist being ok with this product.

Like The late George Carlin once said, people got tattoos and piercing to look different and now everyone has them. If you are in this group you are an IDIOT!!! The sad thing is that you look STUPID and don't even get a response with your, so called, shocking behavior. Once again, how STUPID!!! Want to shock us and stand out, put a steel rod through your brain and walk around town trying to get attention. Maybe, then, they will look at you and say what you want to hear, "Wow, isn't that different?!?" GOD help America.

I am surprised I still have not yet seen decorative "non-natural" hair transplants. I think a beautiful tall blonde woman with long fetlocks like a horse would be just stunning!

No thanks. Not for me. I spazz out if I get a fiber from a Q-tip in my eye when putting makeup on. Just wearing contacts can be challenging. I mean if you even get a speck of dust in your eye - OUCH! Whatever attaches the jewelry to the contact has to irritae and rub on your eye, right? I can't imagine having something dangling on my face all day either. Seems like it would be annoying. What happens when the wind blows and the thing gets blown back up into your eye? If it is metal and you are out in the sunshine wouldn't it get hot? Hmmm. Doesn't look fun or safe!

In some of the pictures, it looks like the chain is hooked INTO the eye. *shudder*

I think it would probably drive me crazy, like having something in my eye...

That second one, looks like an alien life-form growing out of your eye... like some eye disease from the Mutter Museum... YUCK

Yuck! And wouldn't it pull on the contact, making it difficult to keep it centered?

Well, back in the day, bell bottoms and long hair got the same reaction. Stuff like that-all the tattoos and piercings-just looks like it hurts. So much so, that it hurts just looking at the people with them.

This is the worst thing I have ever seen! This has to be a joke. What kind of a freak would have even started working on such a project. Freakin' insane. That's all I can say.....

Having been a contact lens wearer for almost 30 years, I cannot begin to tell you the horrors of microscopic irritants. People don't realize how many times per minute they close their eyes without noticing. So imagine every time you close your eyes you're scraping your eyelid on whatever it is connecting that string to the lens. It's an eye ulcer waiting to happen. They should outlaw these things before someone goes blind. I cannot believe somethng like this would be condoned by an eye care professional.
