Triumph Inspiration Award - dreamy lingerie

Filed under: Runway Trends, Style in the News, Swimwear and Lingerie

Sure, the Victoria Secret fashion show has all of those supermodels, but it's sort of sanitized sexiness. Plus you know that everything in the show will eventually turn up a mall near you, piled on a table next to a pyramid of "Pink-scented" lotion.

If you want creativity and adventure in your underwear, you have to check out the new Triumph Inspiration Awards. An international design competition for students, this year the theme was Female Fascination. Designers from 31 countries participated and the judges included supermodel Helena Christensen, Dutch designers Viktor & Rolf, and noted sexy photographer Ellen von Unwerth.

  • First runner-up, Norwegian fashion designer Stine Fagervik-Rosen
  • Stripes from Swiss fashion designer Angela Catrina Wyss
  • Wings from Vietnamese fashion designer Ha Hoanh Minh
  • Butterflies from Malaysian fashion designer Merlin Yuwita
  • Military look from Singaporean Designer Afton Chen Sihan
A limited run of the striking winner by Japanese designer Midori Matsuo, will be produced by the sponsor, international lingerie giant Triumph, and sold in stores around the world.

We're not exactly sure where you'd wear the winning panties -- those red lips look like a tough fit for most pants, and would probably bulge a bit even in a skirt. But they are definitely more provocative than the latest glitter-encrusted thong from Victoria Secret!

In the gallery you can check out some of the other fanciful entries from the finals held in Beijing on July 31st.
