Golden Girl: Does Kate Moss belong in a museum?

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

How do you know when you're a genuine 'supermodel' versus one of those self-proclaimed upstarts? Maybe it's when you become the subject of a $1.5M sculpture entitled "Siren" -- not that there's any doubt surrounding Kate Moss' supermodel status. In what is thought to be the largest gold statue since the days of the Pharaoh in ancient Egypt, Kate Moss has been immortalized in the form of a 50kg (110lbs) solid gold statue at the British Museum in London.

The artist, Marc Quinn, has used Kate Moss as inspiration in some of his past works. In 2006, Quinn featured Moss in a sculpture he named Sphinx, in which he contorted the supermodel into a freaky yoga position. Apparently, he sees her as a representation of "the ideal beauty of the moment" -- and we're pretty sure he's not alone. The golden statue will was first unveiled yesterday and will be featured in the Statuephilia exhibition from October 4th thru January 25th.

What we can't seem to figure out is: is the Kate Moss statue nude? If so, a lot of tickets will be sold.
