This whole "pit bull" speech item is offensive. First of all, she's doesn't seem to be half as nice as a pit bull (or at least the pit bulls I know). Second, pit bulls are NOT mean! They love people.

The Republicans have been putting lipstick on a pig for 8 years. Is a pitbull wearing lipstick an attempt to keep us from noticing the pig?

I love it!
Sarah Palin is just telling a joke. She was describing Hockey moms to Pitbulls because people like these dogs because they are tough looking and just looking at them, you don't wanna mess with them.
Nothing more.
GO all the Way Sarah Palin!
I'm voting for McCain and Sarah Palin!
They can reform Washington, just like Sarah reformed Alaska!
I know I live in Alaska.
We love Sarah Palin!

Love it! The reason Hockey Mom's are like Pitbulls is because they are VERY loving, but if need be they will protect to the death that which they cherish! I'm still forming a complete analysis of the candidates, but Sarah definately has my attention.

I am really, really angry that the missus used the concept of a pit bull to signify brutal aggressiveness. Her reference is an insult to pitties.

I agree, if in doubt..shut your mouth.
I had a pit bull (bless his soul). He was a handsome looking animal, beautiful eyes, carries his head high with a proud stance. Although, he looked the part of a pit bull, people would comment of his "humble" demeanor.
Whoever we would come into contact with and if I stopped to talk with them, he would sit and hold his paw out to shake their hand and behave so well, he was also a great runner. My running partner, he was very obedient and a good listener, I miss him.
For a person who is running for Vice-President of the United States, she did not leave a very good first impression-with such a comment about, "What is the difference between hockey mom's and pit bulls; is lipstick". Shame on you. It made me wonder if she wears lipstick whenever she goes hunting to shoot these poor helpless animals.
Is the mentality she would use to negotiate our global leaders?

I agree that Palin's reference to pitties promotes incredibly ingnorant thinking, some of which is evidenced in many of the threads on this page. First off, if you don't know what you are talking about you should keep your mouth shut - that is for those of you who think that everyone who owns a pittie keeps them because they are "tough and just look at them but don't mess with them". I am a veterinary student at a very prestigious university, I own two pit bull terriers who are the best dogs I've ever had. They love me, sleep with me, love everyone they meet - and get their teeth brushed every night with no complaints. I am personally extremely offended, and I think that the entire veterinary community (and community of citizens who know ANYTHING AT ALL about pitties) should be offended by Palin's comment. That right there sealed the vote for me - and it won't be for any ticket with her name on it.
