Jeremy Piven bangs the drums at HBO's Emmy After Party

Filed under: Events: On the Scene

Michael Buckner is a fashion and celebrity photographer who travels around the world taking pictures on the red carpet. He gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the hottest entertainment industry events.

In a Brazilian-themed soiree at the Pacific Design Center, celebrities from hit HBO programs came out to show their support for the big Emmy winners of the evening. There were a heap of Emmys on the tables, and the celebrity talent was incredible.

The decor was inspired by the work of Oscar Niemeyer, and didn't compromise any detail. From silver dangling balls, to huge mid-century chandeliers, HBO always impresses.

Actors-turned-producers, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson showed off one of their 13 Emmys for John Adams, while John Adams himself and Paul Giamatti made a quick and quiet round of the party.

The stars from Entourage, Big Love, True Blood, John Adams, Recount and Curb Your Enthusiasm each had their own tables around the party. They got up and mingled with each other while dining on Flavors of South America by star chef Wolfgang Puck.

My favorite part of the evening was listening to a jam session on a percussion monstrosity by Emmy winner Jeremy Piven, Bret McKenzie of The Flight of the Conchords and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. The three-time Emmy winner now has rock drummer to add to his already full resume.

Throughout the night, celebrities sipped Moet & Chandon Champagne and Belvedere Vodka cocktails while dancing to Samba-techno beats.
