The Biggest Loser's Jillian Michaels really wants you to brush your teeth

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Product Reviews

Many of you are familiar with tough trainer Jillian Michaels from NBC's The Biggest Loser. She's pretty no-nonsense, and you have to admit the top ten tips she shares in this video make sense. You can see how she motivates people to change their habits and improve their lives.

With recommendations like read labels, reduce the amount of processed food you eat, and upgrade to a power toothbrush (more on that in a minute) she definitely gets across the idea that you're in charge of your health and well-being. It's totally the kind of talking to that you want/need from a trainer.
So, in the video, it's sort of obvious that she's being sponsored by the Oral B Vitality toothbrush, since it's the only name brand product she work in there, and also? She's not that smooth. Plus, she's the star of their Smooth Clean Feeling website. But she does have a point. Preventative care saves you money, and if we're going to spend a zillion dollars on whitening our teeth, we should pay the same attention to brushing.

And how about the Oral B Vitality? We tried it out, and candidly, it's not our favorite. But you get what you pay for and this one is only $22, compared to some electric toothbrushes that cost well over $100.

On the down side, it's loud and super vibratey, kind of like a dentist's tool, and it's ugly compared to the sleek Oral B Pulsonic. On the other hand, it does work. The small head can easily reach all the sides of our teeth and it has a timer. That's sort of our number one requirement for a toothbrush: just tell us when we can stop.

Our dentist told us once that it doesn't matter which kind of electric toothbrush we got, just to get one. He said they're more effective mostly because they made people brush longer. And like Jillian, we haven't had any cavities or other oral problems since we started using one. Like the rest of her top ten tips, food for thought, not for thighs.
