Indie Designer Interviews: Jen Ell's Revenge

Filed under: Accessories, Clothing, Vintage and Retro, Interviews, Green Fashion

Jen Ell's RevengeWe love all of the amazing independent designers out there and we wanted to find out more about what makes these creative types tick. If you do too, check out more of our Indie Designer Interviews.

Just in time for Halloween, we'd like to introduce you to the quirky, sometimes spooky creations of designer Jennifer Ellison. Her shop, Jen Ell's Revenge, is full of wonderfully kooky finds, like these awesome skeleton hand barrettes.

Tell us a little about yourself and your work. Hi! I'm Jen Ell, the creator of Jen Ell's Revenge. From punk to pin-up, goth to glam there's no telling what you may find to add to your wardrobe at Jen Ell's Revenge. Each piece is carefully handcrafted with TLC and my own little bit of fabulousness.

REinvented is a new eco-sensitive line of clothing, jewelry and accessories created by moi, Jen Ell. My rockin' creativity is combined with sometimes-vintage, sometimes-thrift store finds to create truly unique pieces that can help you move one step closer to a green lifestyle.

Jen Ell's RevengeHow did you get started as a designer? I've been cutting, sewing, destroying, creating and painting my own clothing and jewelry for years. I don't necessarily have one particular style since I tend to just create whatever comes to mind, so you never really know what you're going to get. I have a fairly decent art, photography and graphic design background so all of that typically comes to play in my work.

Any advice you would give to aspiring designers? Do what you love and keep working at it. Nothing is going to fall right into your lap, you have to work for the sales so just remember to keep on truckin'!

What inspires your work? Honestly... anything. I know that may sound a bit cliche but it is the truth. I have no one real style; I am truly me and I find beauty in many things. I love the old pin-ups from the 1950's, anything retro, rock and roll, skulls, pirates, middle eastern religions symbols, art and imagery, tattoo inspired, bright colorful, goth, punk, glam, artsy and more. Like I said...anything.

Who are your favorite designers? Betsey Johnson, Roberto Cavalli, Vivienne Westwood, Dolce & Gabbana

What are your top fashion & beauty must-haves? Great fitting jeans, black heels and the perfect red lipstick

Where can people find your work? http://jenellsrevenge.etsy.com. Feel free to add me on Myspace - http://myspace.com/jen_ell I love meeting new friends!
