If there's an expectant mother in your life, Melissa Naclerio of Dragonfly Fine Designs has the perfect choice of baby shower gifts for you. Specializing in handmade goods for the modern mama and chic baby, Melissa creates a variety of unique gift items including diaper cakes & washcloth lollipop bucket bouquets, diaper and wipe carriers, burp cloths and other fun baby shower gifts.

Tell us a little about yourself and your work. First and foremost I am a mother of two beautiful children: Devin, age two, and Avery, only six months old. I love fabric; I can go to a fabric store and walk around hours upon hours just looking at the amazing designs. I am literally like a kid in a candy store. I enjoy cooking and hosting great parties for my friends and family.

Dragonfly Fine Designs is made up of handcrafted items for the modern mama and chic baby. It is an array of baby and toddler items that are unique and stylish but very practical at the same time. Who says baby items can't be stylish and functional at the time?

How did you get started as a designer? I started creating and developing things at a very young age. I remember putting on plays and concerts with my brother and cousins. We would come up with these elaborate productions, with costumes, props and all. As far back as I can remember I was always painting, baking, decorating, or anything else creative I could get my hands on. My mother being a self taught artist herself and my father being an incredible woodworker have had a great influence on the designer I am today. She was always painting and designing truly magical art. She always taught me the importance of art and creating in ones' life.

Any advice you would give to aspiring designers? Never give up on your dreams, work hard, laugh a lot, and be passionate in what you create and design. Also, confidence. This is something I work on within myself everyday. To have confidence to promote and put my work out there for people to see and judge. Own it and be proud!

What inspires your work? My children, fabric, practical needs, and anything retro. Also, paper which is starting to be my new obsession.

Who are your favorite designers? Anything handcrafted is my ultimate, so indie designers of course. Also, I am in awe of quilters. It is amazing to me how a quilt can say a million words, and be so incredible; it is truly a work of art. Mainstream designers, I love Marc Jacobs, Zac Posen, and I love walking around the store, Anthropologie.

What are your top fashion & beauty must-haves? Anything 1950's inspired, but with a modern twist, pencil skirts, flowers, and of course a great diaper bag.

Beauty must haves: A great shade of red lip stick. Does hand sanitizer count? I never thought in my life that I would consider this a must, let alone a beauty must have, but it totally is in my house.

Where can people find your work? You can find me on my web site www.dragonflyfinedesigns.com. And also, through etsy www.dragonflyfinedesigns.etsy.com.
