Oh, it hurts us to do this. It really does. We love Emma Thompson -- she's on our list of people we'd have lunch with if we could have lunch with anyone in the world. She's talented and funny and beautiful. And, unfortunately, at the UK premiere of Brideshead Revisted, she was badly dressed in a shapeless, shiny coat.

Let us rephrase: a shiny, shapeless coat that she never removed, so even if she was wearing something hot underneath (and we hope she was, because the clutch she's carrying is kind of fierce), we'll never know.

Emma was obviously feeling pretty goofy the night of the premiere (as you'll see in the gallery), so maybe this shiny sack of yuck is a joke and we're just not getting it. It's not that we want her to dress in haute couture -- shoot, we don't even want her to be uncomfortable (unless it helps her get into character, in which case, wear those stilettos, lady!). We just want actual clothes.
