While the couple has done a great job keeping first their relationship and then their marriage under wraps and totally off limits to the press, they are flashy about one thing -- their jewelry. For Beyonce's engagement to Jay-Z he gave her an 18 carat flawless diamond ring worth over $4 million dollars!

But, for some odd reason, B doesn't sound exceptionally thrilled by the big bling bling. She gave an interview to Essence Magazine and said of the engagement ring, "People put too much emphasis on that. It's just material and it's just silly to me."

If that's how she feels, did she really need a cool four mil worth of material?

But, the singer carried on adding, "What Jay and I have is real. It's not about interviews or getting the right photo op. It's real."

We hope she's right -- we'd love to see a couple like them go the distance because that's so rare in Hollywood. And, let's admit, we're also excited to stick around and find out what Jay-Z buys her for their first anniversary -- it's bound to be good!
