Uber-high heels - Is pain the price of fashion?

Not all fashionistas wear heels, but we doubt any stylish woman's eyes don't light up a little when she sees a really beautiful stiletto. Really high heels are really a work of art -- as is walking in them. But, that's not stopping women around the world from reaching for heels that have half a foot or more of height.

They might look hot, but these extreme heels are proving to be hazardous -- even women who are practically pros at walking in heels are stumbling. In fact, when Prada's spring 2009 show in Milan showcased killer heels (and two models bit the dust while trying to walk in them), another model said, "I was having a panic attack, my hands were shaking. The heels were so high. Some of the girls were crying backstage they were so scared."

Could you walk in these heels?

Christian Louboutin's six- and seven-inch stilettos have been so popular that the designer has plans to introduce an eight-inch platform heels next fall. Manolo Blahnik, who has never gone higher than a five-inch heel, added a six-inch style this year -- and he doesn't offer platforms.
