New lingerie line includes GPS tracking system - Virtual chastity belt?

Filed under: Style in the News, Swimwear and Lingerie

As technology an fashion continue to find new ways to integrate, we're sure to seem some inventions that make us want to barf a little -- it's only natural. Well, here's a kinda disturbing marriage between GPS technology and womens undergarments that makes us a little queasy: GPS equipped lingerie. Designer Lucia Lorio says her 'Find Me if You Can' lingerie is the perfect complement to today's "techno-savvy woman." Feminist groups, on the other hand, say its nothing more than a 21st century chastity belt.

We're definitely having a tough time figuring out why any woman would want to wear a pair of undies with embedded GPS cheat tracking technology. Of course, we don't quite understand why people like social networking sites, like Twitter, that let other people know what you're doing 24/7 either -- so maybe we're biased.

On the other hand, we could definitely see how some jealous dude would want his special lady friend to wear these high tech babies on a night out alone -- and that's pretty creepy.

According to the designer, the collection "is a wink to women and a challenge to men because, even if she gives him the password to her GPS, she can always turn it off." And while Lorio maintains that the lingerie is safety-oriented and simply for her pleasure, we can certainly understand why feminist groups are encouraging women to boycott the disturbing techno-panties. Weirdness.

What do you think? Is this lingerie all in good fun, or is just stalker bait?
