Trend alert: Leaving Wall Street for Fashion Avenue

Filed under: Stores We Love, Style in the News, Clothing, Dresses, Green Fashion

Marchuska As the Wall Street jobs thin out, some of the people who traded their creative passions for "stable" banking jobs are giving their artistic aspirations a second chance.

One of the top names in this current wave of artists is Christine Marchuska. A little Wall Street know-how can take a fashion designer a long way! Fashion is, after all, a business. And it's a hard one.

Marchuska's eco-friendly designs are just a little sweeter than classic, with clever details and unexpected shapes like the ruched-waist "Christine Dress" you see here.

Chirstine Marchuska and her brother started the line just after May last year when she was laid off from her NY investment bank job. About her current collection:

For my Signature Collection I am focusing on basic knits that can be worn separately or with other items from the collection. Two of my favorite pieces are the kiva t and christine dress. The kiva t is made with a wider v neckline which makes it the fit more comfortable and more flattering. The garment is made with 100% organic cotton and manufactured in NYC. It is the perfect v-neck to pair with your favorite jeans or with a skirt and blazer. The christine dress is named appropriately because it is totally my style.

Marchuska is smart and savvy, and definitely a new designer to watch! You can purchase the Signature Collection here.
