Did Christina Aguilera ape Lady Gaga's look?

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Many people--Perez Hilton among them--are questioning just how much Christina Aguilera's new look has been "inspired" by recording artist Lady Gaga. The long, blonde extensions with heavy bangs. The slinky, black catsuits. The masks. The mod, mod makeup.

In a brief interview with the Los Angeles Times this week, Aguilera laughed off a comparison to the hipster dance-music songstress, claiming that she'd never even heard of Ms. Gaga until people recently started asking whether she'd copied her style.

"This person [Lady Gaga] was just brought to my attention not too long ago. I'm not quite sure who this person is, to be honest. I don't know if it is a man or a woman."

We're not saying Christina is trying to appropriate Lady Gaga's look, but come on--you can't tell if someone who goes by the name LADY Gaga is a man or woman? We may have believed her had she simply said that Lady Gaga wasn't on her radar. After all, she remains a pretty underground phenomenon. But that comment's just a little disrespectful and dismissive of her fellow recording artist.

After the jump, check out our gallery of eerily-similar Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera pictures and decide for yourself: simple coincidence or straight-up stealing?
