If a friend was to tell us she used soap to clean her face, we'd probably shutter at the thought of dry, irritated skin. After all, didn't her mama teach her soap was bad for her skin?

Apparently her mama didn't teach her that soap was bad for her skin and her mama was right! Sure back in the day soap was made of a pretty gross mixture that contained animal fat and veggie oil. But today they have been transformed with synthetic surfactants, which cleanse skin and sometimes moisturize too. Even that "squeaky clean" feeling soaps give isn't all bad.

According to the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, and we quote, "There is nothing wrong with using it." We will follow a derm's advice over heresy any day!
