Patrick Dempsey, Unscripted - Beauty Gossip

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, Men, Fragrance, Celebrities with Style, Interviews

This afternoon, Patrick Dempsey spoke to me from my computer.

No, I'm not a delusional McDreamy stalker who forgot to take her meds. Though I gotta admit, he is H-O-T, even on my 20 inch monitor.

Dempsey played hooky from the Grey's Anatomy set to hold a live webcast for bloggers to launch his brand spanking new scent, Unscripted (Note: We could see him, but he couldn't see us...drooling). A venture with Avon, Unscripted is a woody green juice peppered with lavender, fig and cracked black pepper -- which, for Dempsey, conjures up memories of driving top-down in a convertible through the country. And turns out the scent is already has a passionate following: "Everyone on the show now wears it. We keep a box by the camera so everyone can spritz it during the day," says Dempsey.

GIVEAWAY ALERT: Later this week, we're giving away 5 bottles of Unscripted. So stay tuned!

Dempsey linked up with Avon thanks to his wife, Jillian, a well-known Hollywood makeup artist and the mastermind behind Avon color (Beauty Trivia! She also created the makeup line Delux Beauty). "I had such a great time watching my wife collaborating with Avon, I wanted to be a part of it," said Dempsey.

Turns out he's a quick study. "I didn't want to just do a photo shoot and hold a bottle." So Dempsey did his research, raiding Barney's for good men's scents and learning about the art of fragrance in the process.

"The really fun part for me was discovering different layers of juices – the top note, the finish and all the science behind it." And the fragrance he finished with (after 80 versions!) consists of the following:

Top Note: Black pepper, water anise, lavender, cardamom.

Heart Note: Violet leaves, lavender, fig accord.

Dry Down: Leatherwood, patchouli heart, vetiver, musk.

Can't Buy Me Love fans rejoice. Looks like we'll be seeing (and smelling) more of Mr. Dempsey in the near future: Both Avon and the former Loverboy star (I'll have my pizza with anchovies, please!) were coy, but Dempsey let slide: "I'm really looking forward to showing you what will be coming in the future."

Hopefully, it'll involve my computer.
