Golden Globes Make-up Trends

Filed under: Cosmetics, Celebrities with Style, Red Carpet Trends, Beauty Tips

Freida PintoThis year brought some big changes in red carpet makeup -- namely, a serious lack of it. We've gotten so used to the heavy, dark, smoky eyes and bold red lips on even the youngest of actresses that seeing anything less is ... well, a little shocking. But, at the same time, completely refreshing.

Don't get us wrong -- in no way does this mean a lot of work didn't go into those faces. Natural-looking beauty takes just about as much time, effort, and skill as dark, elaborate makeup. However, we loved the lighter lips and the neutral eyeshadow -- these looks paired perfectly with the new, undone hairstyles.

Not everyone went "natural," of course -- there will always be bright lips and dark eyes, but even with the colored eyeshadow, we noticed something. Eyeshadow was not matched to the dresses (as they said on the E! preshow -- this isn't the prom, people!), but instead was matched to the metallic jewelry. It was still bold, but gorgeous and modern ... and totally something any of you could do yourself at home.
