NYC Fashion Week - Schedule Updates
Sure, we've seen plenty of reports about designers dropping out of NYC Fashion Week (Betsey Johnson, Carmen Marc Valvo, Sass & Bide, Temperley, Celine, Vera Wang). We can't fault companies wanting to shave six figures off their marketing budgets. But with just a little back of the envelope math, even if there's a 25-35% drop in the number of catwalk shows, it would still leave us with the majority of time slots double and triple booked. Of course, the fact that Full Frontal Fashion is taking a season off, according to a recent report from Fashionsta.com, couldn't be a good sign. The official, but still evolving, lineup released by Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week still includes loads of our favorites like 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alexandre Herchcovitch, Ralph Lauren and Project Runway. Stay tuned to the offical website as February quickly approaches.
Plus, a lighter schedule could help younger brands like the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation winners that each received a $25,000 sponsorship to present this season. This year's group include Cushnie et Ochs, Lyn Devon, Matthew Ames and Ohne Titel for women's wear; Corpus in the men's category; Monique Péan in the accessories category; and Bodkin Brooklyn for sustainable design.
