Prada Releases a Bluetooth Watch - Awesome Stuff We Don't Need
Filed under: Accessories, Gift Guides
When it comes to mixing fashion and technology, it appears that designers on both fronts are rushing to team up and blur the lines -- that way they can charge $817 for a device that's probably technologically inferior to the $200 iPhone. One of the products stemming from one of these partnerships is a curious little LG Prada Link wristwatch that communicates via Bluetooth to the new Prada II phone. How cool, sort of.Continue reading “Prada Releases a Bluetooth Watch - Awesome Stuff We Don't Need”
Men's Slippers Out on the Town - Yea or Nay?
Traditionally, wearing a pair of comfy slippers out in public has been perfectly acceptable for 3 types of people: babies, chronic slackers, and college students. According to the Financial Times (the obvious authority on all breaking fashion trends?), slipper makers are noticing that their products are showing up in all sorts of unusual places where the slipper was formerly unacceptable -- from the bar to the office meeting. Is it time for the 'house shoe' to invade the outdoors?Continue reading “Men's Slippers Out on the Town - Yea or Nay?”

What's creepier than obsessing over eccentric, ponytail-wearing super designer Karl "the Kaiser" Lagerfeld? How about obsessing over a tiny felt finger puppet crafted in his image? Yes, it's kind of strange to think of cuddling up and playing designer with a fuzzy Karl puppet, but for some reason, we can't help but think this little doll is going to make somebody rich -- or at least make them a little extra Christmas cash.Continue reading “Karl Lagerfeld in Puppet Form on Etsy - Daily Obsession”
Lego Models Rock JC/DC's Runway Show - Plastic Fantastic
Filed under: Runway Trends, Videos
As we've seen with Lego's awesome anniversary edition celebrity figurines, many things in life (Amy Winehouse for instance) are way cooler in LEGO form. Well, apparently experimental French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac took that idea and ran with it. He teamed up with France's 4-H and The Lego Group to debut his Spring/Summer collection on the virtual stage. We think it's possibly the most fascinating runway show we've ever seen.

Marc Jacobs Pays Out $1M in Bribery Case - Scandal Alert

Marc Jacobs $1M Bribery Case
When it comes to NYC, the most desirable party spots for a high end designer would probably be either: a condemned doll parts factory, now used by a Russian crime family as a clearing house for fake LV handbags and large cocaine shipments -- or the 69th Regiment Armory.
Being a first rate designer, and a seemingly classy gent on the up-and-up, Marc Jacobs prefers the Armory -- but that doesn't mean he doesn't have to bend a couple of little old laws to get it. Now he's going to have to pay.
Getty Images
According to the New York Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, Marc Jacobs has been paying off the Armory's superintendent James Jackson to get access to the prized venue for the last few years. Between 2000 and 2007, Jacobs allegedly dolled out $35,000 in cash and other gifts to the superintendent. Oops. Isn't a guy allowed to be generous anymore?

We know that the Armory is a prime locale for showing off you collections at Fashion Week, but is it really worth getting busted on bribery charges? Apparently, Marc decided that $1M was a fair price for not having to take the case to court -- a wise decision in our opinion.
In addition to the hefty fine, Marc and Co. have agreed to let a private company investigate their business for two years, sending the report to the Attorney General's office.

Jacobs, of course, is a very popular with celebrities. Will this recent scandal effect their love for the prolific designer? Somehow we doubt it (in fact, it'll probably boost sales). Keep browsing to see more high profile Marc Jacobs fans.
