"I didn't really know how to dress for this because I don't spend a lot of time at the beach. I was looking for things that looked beach-y. And this looked beach-y to me," she said donning a white Shoshanna frock and a plumeria lei.
(Not her usual awards ceremony accessory.)

Lindsay Lohan Launches Sevin Nyne Tanning Mist

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, Accessories, Cosmetics, Skin Care, Beauty Tips

Fresh back from her Hawaiian vacation, last night Lindsay Lohan stopped by the launch of her new line of self tanning spray at Santa Monica's 3rd Street Sephora. The style icon collaborated with Lort Simon to create Sevin Nyne Tanning Mist. Named after Lohan's lucky numbers 7 and 9, it's infused with goji berry extract and chardonnay to keep the skin hydrated.

While tourists and paparazzi stalked the promenade, Lindsay and sister Ali puckered up for my camera.

"I just used Sevin Nyne while on my vacation to Hawaii since I don't get to tan that much, and it works great," the actress told the crowd inside the beauty shop, while noshing on cheesecake lollipops. Lohan claimed she nearly missed the event due to a food poisoning incident in Hawaii that made her skip her flight late Wednesday night.

"I have tried every tanning product on the market and worked with the best tanners in the business. When Lorit and I met we thought it would be great to bring a quality product at a reasonable price to the market so everyone could enjoy a professional spray tan. Our hope is t that we can encourage women -- and me! -- to stay out of the sun and cherish their skin, " said Lindsay.

Starting today, May 1st, Sevin Nyne Tanning Mist is available in all Sephora's for $35.

Don't call it a vending machine.

Just insert your credit card, toggle the computer's touch screen until you find that $85 hand cream you desperately need, and voila, the bottle magically drops into your palms. Okay, so I don't quite understand how it works, but no one ever said this was a tech blog. It's a style blog. All you need to know is that it works.

In fact, it works so well, that U*tique has the potential to haunt the hallways of airports, train stations, malls and churches across America. Why?

I know John Varvatos for his Converse and resurrecting American style, but the side of John Varvatos that has really touched many lives is what he does for the Stuart House, a rape treatment center at the Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center. It's a sensitive topic, but the Stuart House helps the special needs of child victims of sexual abuse and their families.

America's Next Top Model Jaslene Gonzalez and Spanx, the "body shaping" undergarments designed to give the wearer a slim and shapely appearance, don't really belong in the same sentence. She has a body most women would kill for, and most men would kill to be with. But that wouldn't stop her from coming by the Spanx lounge at the Bryant Park Hotel in New York City.

And just in time for the Recession, Spanx has introduced Assets, which are sold at Target on the cheap!. For just $20 Assets introduces the Sensational Shaper. These hose slim the midriff, tummy, rear, hips, and thighs and are the perfect paring for spring's high-waisted skirts. Who says you can't look a little thinner for les than a gym membership?

Vanity Fair Oscars After Party

Filed under: Events: On the Scene

Ten straight hours on a red carpet is time well spent when Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer come together holding hands, or when Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep collide, or even when Mickey Rourke walks out of the party with a Stella Artois in his hand and a beautiful mystery girl in blue on his arm. But mostly, ten straight hours on a press line is time well spent when Academy Award Winner Kate Winslet poses with her golden Oscar for her portrayal in "The Reader" in Atelier Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati.

Vanity Fair hosted its annual Oscar After Party at the Sunset Tower Hotel. The guest list was allegedly limited to just 400 people, as the stars came out to celebrate the huge night for Winslet, Sean Penn and Penelope Cruz.

Madonna made her famous appearance before heading to her secret after party, which didn't start until midnight.

"Sex and the City" star Sarah Jessica Parker shocked and awed in Christian Dior and that was just the beginning.

Mary-Kate Olsen Loves Her Fur Coat

I'm in New York City for New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter '09. Before this madness got started, I went to the Bowery Hotel for the launch of Belvdere IX Vodka.

Mary-Kate Olsen, who has always been known for her style, made a brief appearance at the launch of Belvedere IX (pronounced One-X) at the Bowery Hotel in Manhattan's Lower East Side. She hung with DJ Paul Sevigny in a fluffy fur jacket. Fortunately PETA wasn't around to throw paint.

MK doesn't allow photos inside parties because she doesn't want to tarnish her reputation as a party girl, so I had to stand across the room and shoot her paparazzi style once she turned around. Out of 300 pictures I took of her, this is the only one of her face.

Mary-Kate and her sister Ashley just announced that they launched a men's collection in their courture line, "The Row."
