Much like the mythical unicorn, or all-you-can-eat sushi bars that don't make you sick, I didn't actually believe that the Christian Louboutin sample sale existed. I'm a die-hard Project Runway fan, so when I heard that former contestants Mychael Knight and Laura Bennett (pictured) were co-hosting an event, I jumped at the chance to go. Turns out the little soiree was thrown to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the weight loss drug Alli (which I do not take, btw), but hey – there's nothing wrong with a nice lunch and face time with Mychael!
Jai Rodriguez of Queer Eye fame played master of ceremonies while men and women regaled the audience with stories of their dramatic weight losses. After their inspiring tales, Mychael and Laura unveiled custom LBDs that they designed for four lucky ladies at the party who had collectively lost, like, a crazy amount of weight.
After the big reveal of the dresses I chatted with Mychael, and he gave me the scoop on what's new in his world. Mychael told me: "I'm still working on the fashion label, and trying to get into retailers, and I have a fragrance – it comes out maybe this summer. It's a unisex fragrance called MajK [pronounced Magic]. It's going to be forever my signature fragrance. It's beautiful, clean, crisp, and great for the summer." If you want to get your hands on the scent before it hits stores, Mychael told me that it's available on his website, www.mychaelknight.com.
I also ate my lunch with Laura Bennett, and I can't really print anything that she said, because that girl swears like a sailor! Who knew?

If you're a cool kid in the city with an asymmetrical haircut or intentionally ironic T-shirt, then you were probably at the Milk Gallery on June 24th for the vernissage of the "Rebel Rebel" art exhibit. Showcasing a collaboration between rock 'n roll photographer Mick Rock and artist Russell Young and benefiting The Art of Elysium, the display featured Warholian-style screen prints of David Bowie, Iggy Pop and Lou Reed splashed in acid-bright hues.
Notable names in attendance included British model Agyness Deyn, Riley Keough (Elvis' grandbaby), Elijah Wood, Joshua Jackson, fashion designer Tara Subkoff, and Danny Masterson of That 70's Show fame, who spun records under the best moniker ever: "DJ Mom Jeans." Joshua Jackson told me that he wasn't actually even invited to the fete, saying: "My brother is friends with the gallery owner. I wish I could say I was on the list, but I wasn't on the list. I'm the random brother. I put in 30 years on this connection, and it's about time it started paying off!"
In a strange turn of events there was also a high quotient of All My Children stars there, including Rebecca Budig, Cameron Mathison and Michael E. Knight. Why, you ask? Because artist Russell Young is married to former soap diva-turned-style-expert Finola Hughes.

Stylist Robert Verdi invited an intimate group of around twenty folks (yep, including yours truly) to a viewing party for his show She's Got the Look, and while I was there he gave me a little scoop on the series. Held at Verdi's swanky Luxe Laboratory, we lounged around and sipped wine while gabbing about the field of over-35 women who are competing Top Model-style for a Wilhelmina contract.
Robert's adorable new Havanese puppy Lucinda scuttled about, and during commercial breaks we offered our opinions as to who we thought should win (Bahia was the clear favorite). As for whom his pick is, Verdi would only offer up that he loves the aforementioned Bahia and another contestant named Karin, saying: "Karin is sort of edgy, very unexpected, a little harder and a little angular. Bahia is just really sexy, without any attempt to be that. She's got a really rich, deep voice, she's got an accent, she speaks French, and she's just really hot."

I hit up a fundraiser for Charity: Water at Saks Fifth Avenue the other night, and while celebs like Mischa Barton, Diane von Furstenberg, Ashleigh Verrier and BMX rider Nigel Sylvester added some wattage, I was really transfixed by Alex McCord (pictured) and Simon van Kempen from the show The Real Housewives of NYC.
I chatted with Alex and Simon a few days before at Bravo's A-List awards, and at the time I heard some rumblings that the NYC ladies weren't getting along with their OC counterparts. I asked them for a little re-cap on that evening's fight, and this is what Simon told me:
"They [the OC cast] have a huge chip on their shoulder. Do you know why? Their husbands tried to get on the red carpet [at the A-List Awards] and they weren't allowed on, and so the OC wives were angry about me. They were angry that their husbands didn't get on the red carpet and I did."
Since it's been disgustingly hot and sticky lately, I also asked Alex how she tames her naturally curly tresses in the humidity. She shared: "I usually keep style cream in my bag to slick it back with, or if worse comes to worst I use hand lotion."
Then being the good sport she is, Alex gamely rummaged around and showed me the tube of Kiehl's Ultimate Strength Hand Salve she had in her handbag.
