Nastia Liukin and Herbal Essences

Filed under: Style in the News, Hair Care, Celebrities with Style, Beauty Tips, Hair Cut and Style

Gold medalist and super-cutie Nastia Liukin has partnered with Herbal Essences to sell haircare products and make herself more famous. We support that.

We also support the half-updo advice in the above video. The half-up look, recently totally rocked by Duffy in the Mercy video, is sexy and smart. It's a wholesome, substitute teacher-esque look that almost everyone can pull off. If your face looks unbalanced when you pull your hair back, play with the angle of your bangs and letting pieces down in the front.

Split ends be gone with conditioner - Stylelies

Filed under: Hair Care, Style Lies, Beauty Tips, Hair Cut and Style

We've all heard that conditioning hair with this or that can repair split ends. While many of these products can marry split ends together to produce a temporarily healthy look, none of them are permanent fixes.

A hairbrush that's both functional AND fun?

Filed under: Accessories, Hair Care, Must Haves

fun hairbrush from Jenny's Gifts and Fine ArtHow much fun is this hairbrush? We know, we know... "hairbrush" and "fun" don't usually go together in the same sentence, but we think these brushes are worthy of breaking that rule. We especially love the "Vixen" and "Femme Fatale" models, but there are so many other designs to choose from as well. These brushes would make such great gifts, and can you imagine the conversations you would start if you whipped one of these babies out of your purse? Get your own now for only $10 at Jenny's Gifts and Fine Art.

The curtains gotta match the carpet

"I found a gray hair...in my hair...down there." -Samantha Jones, Sex and the City

It has plagued women for centuries. You start to go gray on top? No big deal. If it bothers you, you dye it. But you start to go gray down below? Where do you turn? What do you do? Who can you possibly risk telling?

Also, many blondes do a little cheating up top, but what, are you going to take your hairstylist aside and ask him if he does any under-the-table treatments? Marilyn Monroe knew your pain. The curtains gotta match the carpet.

Get perfect bangs with a mini-flat iron and an exclusive discount code for BeautyChoice.com

Filed under: Hair Care, Steals and Deals, Product Reviews

The hottest hair accessory these days, and we mean that literally and figuratively, is the mini flat iron.

We tried out the BaByliss Pro Nano Titanium Mini-flat iron, and it's popular for a reason. At just six inches long and 1/2" wide, it's much easier to use for bangs or quick touch ups than your regular-sized flat iron.

It also can travel really easily, not that we recommend dragging a flat iron out on a date, but if you're going somewhere after work and want to smooth out the end of day frizzies in the ladies room, this is the way to go.

Old Loves and New Infatuations: Sebastian Potion 9

Filed under: Hair Care, Product Reviews

We're pretty sure some of you are sister-fans of Sebastian Potion 9 (which we still refer to as Potion #9, but corrected in this post so we don't look dumb.)

Remember the sticky, gluey consistency, that was so hard to get off your hands? The orange color? The way you could use in on wet or dry hair, and how it was the one product you could count on to give your Rachel-do the perfect mixture of smoothness with body?

Oh, those were some good times. But inexplicably, we were lured away from our reliable Potion 9 by the novel temptations of Pureology and Bumble and bumble.

We'd forgotten just how good Potion 9 was, until a box of review samples for the New Sebastian Professional line arrived.

Tip of the Day: Get your buns in shape

Filed under: Hair Care, Style Tip of the Day, Beauty Tips, Hair Cut and Style

Fashion week doesn't only bring on clothing trends. No, no friend. It also shows us just how to wear our hair and makeup for the next few months too.

So what exactly are the top hair trends for the spring season? The simple bun and long, straight hair parted right down the middle. Fabulously easy indeed.

The way to get the long, straight hair look is obvious. Dry your hair and use your straightening iron! Voila! Needn't say more.

The bun on the other hand was reincarnated dozens of different way. We saw librarian buns, side buns, braided buns, messy buns, sleek buns, and pouf buns. This bun-o-mania means that us lay folk at home can A) do the look easily ourselves and B) stylize to suit our personalities.

So check out the gallery, find a bun that looks good to you, and rock it!
