Future Perfect Launches for Web

Filed under: Haute Home, Stores We Love

The Future Perfect, one of Brooklyn's favorite furniture stores since 2003, has finally launched a site for web commerce. The physical store, near the epicenter of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, ranks with any of Manhattan's better known locations for modernism like Moss, MoMA Store or Conran Shop.

Iconic pieces like the Bourgie lamp from Kartell, Jamie Hayon's Multileg tables, and Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec's Self Shelf sit alongside local and lesser known designers. From wallpaper to lamps, tables, accessories, or design objects, The Future Perfect is filled with beautiful and unique objects.

This new and exciting field of web commerce had another notable launch this week from New York as Odin soft launched its men's wear website, offering brands like Band of Outsiders, Robert Geller and Engineered Garments.

Bitches are the new BratzOh, for the love of all that is holy, would you look at these bitches? (What? They're female dogs!)

Concerned about your daughter playing with dolls that dress like skanks? Maybe her delicate young psyche would be safer playing with a dog that dresses like a skank. Get her one of these bitches.

Seriously, you're not going to believe this. Read on for more about doggie style.

Handwritten Notes with Style

Filed under: Holiday Style, Haute Home, Interviews, Kids and Babies

We think that a heartfelt, hand-written thank you note or letter never goes out of style. What better way to show someone how much they mean to you than stopping to take the time to write to them with pen and paper in today's fast-paced, e-mail/Twitter/Facebook driven world? Fortunately there are those out there who agree with us, like Tanea Smith, the owner & creative director of a chic paper goods company called She's Got Papers.

Campana Brothers take home Designer of the Year

Humberto and Fernando Campana (r to l) will be returning to Brazil with the prestigious Design of the Year Award from Design Miami (Dec 3–6). Past winners include Zaha Hadid, Marc Newson and Tokujin Yoshioka.

The Campanas are known for employing natural materials and found objects into seemingly chaotic furniture creations. They represent a uniquely Brazilian perspective and don't shy away from injecting a world view into their work. Quite the contrary, their politics and culture are always at the forefront.

For Design Miami, the Campanas have planned an installation, Diamantina, with the Apuí plant and amethyst crystals. The Apuí plant, natuve to Brazil, grows around and even kills rainforrest treets. Diamantiana takes plastic objects and envelopes them with Apuí. It's a continuation of their TransPlastic series.

Sherwin Williams Color of Inspiration site makes you a paint palette genius

There is something about painting a room that brings out the inner artistic genius in all of us. Suddenly it is of vital importance that we find just the right shade of velvety chocolate, and that it be paired only with the perfect teal.

Sure, you can bring swatches to Home Depot, but we like to do some prep before we make the apron'ed folk run in circles for us. That's why the new Sherwin Wililams Color of Inspiration site is the perfect way for us to spend a few blissful hours trying out color combinations and trying to remember what we learned in color theory class all those years ago.

There are a couple of ways to use the SW Inspiration tool. You can upload a photo and the site automatically generates a palette inspired by your picture of the best green motorcycle ever, or the amazing yellow and red tulips from your garden.

Just as satisfying for us, you can also check out other people's photos and palettes. It's like spying! Plus, why go to all the trouble of finding a perfect picture, or you know, taking one, if the work is already done for us?

Warning: this site will eat your day, and it's twice as dangerous if you're a bride, or involved in any kind planning for a large event. Block out your calendar before you click thru!

Eva Mendes wants you between her sheets

Filed under: Haute Home, Celebrities with Style

Eva Mendes wants you to have a fabulous experience in your bedroom -- by buying her new line of bedding at Macy's.

Her collection, named Vida, is Latin-inspired, as you'll see in the patterns and details, and there will be five styles to choose from. The idea behind it is "easy luxury, said Mendes, adding, "The colors, fabrics, and textures that I live and love, brought to life in a stylish, comfortable, and affordable way."

By affordable, she doesn't exactly mean Wal-Mart prices. You'll need to shell out $340 to $425 for a four-piece queen set. But hey, we know a lot of people who would pay a lot more to get in between Eva Mendes' sheets!

Ralph Lauren: Martinis you can't afford

Filed under: Haute Home, Daily Obsession

We know it seems like a strange time to take a break from reality and practice the blissful escapism that is the American dream -- but why the hell not fantasize about a martini shaker that you totally can't afford. This entire week, we've been daydreaming about retardedly expensive luxury items like Louis Vuitton yachts. Maybe it's the turmoil in the financial markets, or maybe this Ralph Lauren cocktail shaker really would make martinis taste $275 better than the ones at Target.

We can tell you one thing for sure -- pouring a martini from this leather-wrapped cocktail shaker would make you look a lot more like James Bond. Might even make important people crowd around you at parties. It certainly looks a lot more like our vision of the American dream. The one where we float around on a yacht all day wearing Polo shirts, drinking martinis with JFK and fixing the world's problems all day.

For $295, it better turn Smirnoff into Grey Goose.

Owen Wilson - moving to solar powered community in Hawaii

Filed under: Haute Home, Celebrities with Style

Owen Wilson is joining his buddy Woody Harrelson in Hawaii. And they're not just going to sip Mai Tai and surf. Oh no! They're going to conserve while they sip Mai Tais and surf!

After visiting Woody at his completely solar powered, sustainable community featuring organic farming on Maui, Owen has decided to score his own place in the development.

Following his, shall we say rocky year, Owen is definitely in need of some serenity and we hope he finds it. Really, how bad can it be? Sand, surf, coconut-scented air? Plus the smug satisfaction that only 100% green living can give you. Sounds like paradise to us!

We're looking forward to seeing the green incarnation of Owen's style. Will he go full-hemp like Woody? Or take a more activist approach like Leonardo?

eBay WTF of the Day: The hat stand that sees all

Imagine this hat stand on your shelf.

We bet those baleful eyes follow you all around the room. We bet you'd have nightmares if you saw him in the dark from your bed as you tried to sleep. Of course you would. He's a mean little boy with a vengeance only impalement can provoke, and he's watching.
