Vintage Pucci Available on New iPhone App

Designer shopping site yoox.com is bringing the past into the future on June 4 by offering a rare collection of vintage Pucci pieces online and through a new iPhone app.

Yoox.com collected more than two dozen printed Pucci pieces -- dresses, scarves, pants, and tops, in addition to swimwear, handbags, and jewelry -- from American and European vintage collectors and dealers. And these are authentic vintage pieces, true Emilio Pucci designs (as opposed to the relaunch of the Pucci label under his daughter's direction). Prices start at $150.

You can get in on the action where ever you happen to be when the sale begins -- the office, at home, on the street -- if you have an iPhone. Yoox.com's new mobile app will offer users the opportunity to purchase the goods on the go.

Vintage -- and green -- beauty, Dita Von Teese

We are so jealous of Rachel Sarnoff from EcoStiletto, the super-fun and stylish site all about easy ways to be fabulous and eco-friendly. The site has Rachel's new interview with one of our style heroines, the divine Dita Von Teese. They chatted about Dita's attention-getting vintage wardrobe, fashion icons, young Hollywood style, and her thoughts on being an "accidental ecoista."

Despite Dita's frenetic pace – she just got back from a star turn in Paris at renowned Crazy Horse theater, has two new burlesque shows in the works and a book coming out with famed photographer Sheryl Nields -- she is always turned out in impeccable vintage style, including her signature cinched-waist designer frocks.

It's the glamour – plus the frequently friendlier price tags – of vintage that have always appealed to Dita. One thing she hadn't considered? The green angle of vintage.

venus and mars
Many clothing store shop girls probably dream about being a supermodel, but how many supermodels dream about being a shop girl?

Karen Elson did. In her career, the flame-haired beauty has been a face of Yves Saint Lauren, Chanel, Burberry, Vuitton, Versace and more. But having nabbed the rock star hubby (Jack White from the White Stripes) and settled down in Nashville, Elson and her partner Amy Patterson turned their attention to creating Venus and Mars: The Showroom, a hip men's and women's vintage boutique.

(The store has an official web site on which not much happens; in true hipster form it's better to head to its MySpace page to find out what's going on. Here you will learn that the store is 95, single, and also a Scorpio.)

Harris Tweed is Retro Awesome

Filed under: Vintage and Retro, Men, Product Reviews

Harris Tweed is a traditional fabric that's often employed to represent old world style like countryside hunting and professorial attitude. It's a favored fabric of designers who want to represent traditonal as well as those that want to rebel against tradition (see Alexander McQueen FW '09 men's wear collection, for example).

Nancy Judd and two models show off her trashion collection
Can't get enough inauguration-themed news about fashion designers who look to the trashcan for inspiration? Good, because that's what this post is about. The morning after election night 2008, Nancy Judd made a bee line for the dumpster behind the Obama campaign's headquarters in her hometown of Albuquerque. Are We Witnessing a Mustache Revolution?

Filed under: Vintage and Retro, Men

A mustache clad Robert Downey Jr. at the Japanese premiere of Iron ManWhen you consider the sheer number of mustaches appearing in Hollywood films and even on the red carpet these days, some of us are nervously wondering: is the mustache about to make a comeback? As painful as it is to watch, A-list stars the likes of James Franco and Robert Downey Jr. (pictured) have been showing off their upper lip hair on and off the screen. Microsoft Upgrades its Image with Geek Chic Clothing Line - Softwear

Filed under: Clothing, Vintage and Retro

The Sure, the evidence for Microsoft being the epitome of distasteful nerd fashion is overwhelming. Between decades of photos of Bill Gates' in his horrendous wardrobe along with the odyssey of Apple's Mac vs. PC commercials, it's easy to believe that if Microsoft were to conceive of a fashion line, it would consist of Cosby sweater vests and awkward-fitting corduroys. Armed with a bunch of retro t-shirt designs and an endorsement from rapper Common, Microsoft is out to set the record straight.
