One down, two to go!

Kevin Jonas, the eldest of the Jonas Brothers, proposed to his girlfriend of two years, Danielle Deleasa -- and he even designed the engagement ring.

Jonas worked with jeweler to the stars, Jacob & Co., to create a custom piece.

The details: It's a solitaire cushion-cut diamond, with a total weight of 3 carats, surrounded by 210 round, brilliant-cut pavé diamonds (totaling .72 carats).

21-year-old Jonas proposed to Deleasa early Wednesday morning at her New Jersey home, according to People magazine,

The Jonas Brothers performed the night before in Vancouver, after which the pop star took and overnight flight to New Jersey to surprise his 22-year-old GF, now fiancée.

Breaking News - American Apparel Goes to Bed, Ralph Lauren Dresses Olympians and Justin Timberlake's Royal Proposal

Filed under: Style in the News

DEATH OF THE RUNWAY SHOW?
Last week, it was reported the "East Coast Oscars" or The Met's Costume Institute Gala may be downgraded to a benefit dinner. Now, LA Fashion Week loses corporate sponsors -- a major blow to the already struggling West Coast shows. And, top-notch designers Betsey Johnson, Vera Wang and Carmen Marc Valvo pulled out of Fall's 2009 New York shows and opt for smaller presentations. Does this mean the end is near for live sashays down the runway?

AMERICAN APPAREL'S DIRTY SHEETS
The Dov Charney-helmed, stretch-and-spandex emporium can't stay out of the news, nor can its ads stop featuring girls in poses that would make even burlesque star Dita Von Teese blush. See the newest possibly-shot-in-a-creepy-basement ad campaign for American Apparel bedding.

ROMPER ROOM - EXAMINING THE BIG BABY TREND
As little girls, we all had them - rompers with fun, bold prints. The shorts-top combo served as a sort of coverall for sitting in the sandbox. Lately, not only celebrities, but grown women everywhere have been spotted in haute couture onesies. Should this trend be left to the toddlers?

RALPH LAUREN ENTERS THE OLYMPICS, IN STYLE
The iconic designer of classic American style has signed on once again to dress the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams. For the 2010 and 2012 games, the true blue outfitter will dress athletes for the official Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony Parade. The looks will include a splash of red this time instead of last year's simple navy and white.

HEY, PRINCE HARRY, GOT JEANS?

Justin Timberlake is going straight to the top when it comes to naming who he'd like to see in his cool clothing line, William Rast. Who else does the pop star designer hope will slip on his distressed denim? Lets just hope he doesn't gift his new tequila brand to the Royal Family as well.

Diane von Furstenberg is Pumping Perfume Out of NYC Store - The Sweet Smell of Excess?

Filed under: Style in the News

Did Diane von Furstenberg's plan to freshen up the Meatpacking District backfire?

DVF's flagship store in the trendy West Village enclave of NYC has been wafting the designer's signature scent, D Eau de Parfum, out of the air vents in front of the store and, allegedly, it's leaving passersby sick, according to the New York Post.

While the piping of the Mandarin flower/lychee/jasmine/pepper/nutmeg concoction part is true, DVF's peeps say this is the first they've heard of complaints.

One woman, checking out the High Line Park above the store, complained to Page Six of dizziness from the "putrid, awful" scent, "something you'd find on a 60-year-old matron." Ouch.

While, two workers at a nearby hospital also complained of coughing fits. (Though, they do work in a hospital.)

We personally adore the scent and think the Meatpacking District could benefit from a pump of perfume to combat these smelly summer days.

But spritzing involuntary citizens is a bit extreme, even for us DVF-lovers. (It makes the overly aggressive department store sprayers seem almost tame.)

Toilet Paper Wedding Gown - Is it an Oscar de la Renta Original?

Who, you might wonder, made this lovely creation? It wasn't Monique Lhuillier. It wasn't Vera Wang. It wasn't Oscar de la Renta. It was Ann Kagawa Lee. You know, of Honolulu, HI.

Okay, chances are you've never heard of Lee, but she's soon to be a household name for her unbelievable skills as a designer -- working with toilet paper, tape and glue. (And please don't squeeze the garment!)

Lee is the winner of the 2009 Toilet Paper Wedding Dress contest hosted by Cheap-Chic-Weddings.com, and she's taking home the $1,000 top prize for her creation.

Lee says her design has a "Gone with the Wind" influence, and she used her origami skills to create a stunning bridal gown. Her work has been compared to Oscar de la Renta's.

Lee's dress, as well as the second and third place winners' gowns, will be on permanent exhibit in a Ripley's Believe It Or Not! Museum.

Scary Pedicures! Avoid Sketchy Salons and Keep All Your Toes

Is a pretty pedi worth losing a pinky toe? We think not! Photo: Heide Benser, Corbis

I recently walked out on a pedicure because I could clearly see that the technician was not cleaning her tools before she used them on the girl next to me (who had open blisters on her feet, by the way).

I also have two friends who got infections from pedicures -- one of them had to have a toenail surgically removed and the other had her pinky toe amputated.

Since then, I have decided to do my own at-home pedis because I don't want to lose a digit. The Barielle 60 Second Mani-Pedi is a dream come true for DIY-ers -- it's a scrub that whisks away scraggly cuticles and dry patches, and it moisturizes so you don't even need lotion afterward.

Barielle's celebrity nail technician, Elle, is also skeeved out by public pedis and gives this advice for saving your feet from nastiness.

Topshop Dresses Indie Pop Star

Topshop onstage! Florence Welch performs at the Glastonbury Festival in a custom Topshop one-piece. Photo: Hayley Madden/Redferns

Runway designers collaborating with music stars isn't new. Britney was dressed by DSquared for her "Circus" tour and sadly, Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy was busy working on costumes for Michael Jackson's upcoming world tour before the king of pop's untimely death. Now Topshop?

This is one of the few times we have heard of a large retailer designing for music performers, but if anybody could break into the business of dressing bands, it'd be Topshop with its pulse on "fast fashion."

For Florence Welch of Florence and The Machine's Glastonbury Festival performance last weekend (June 27), Topshop outfitted the indie pop darling in a black one-piece with a fitted bodice and long fringe flowing from the arms that was anchored at the sleeve by a row of roses. The look had plenty of thigh exposure with the bottom cut more like a bathing suit, but it is the stage after all. If you've got it, flaunt it!

Wrangler has reinvented itself and you may never think middle-aged Westerner again. The new ad campaign is for the European arm of the nearly 60-year-old jean and apparel company.

In fact, the photos won the Grand Prix Award at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival for their reinvention of the somewhat dated brand.

The U.S. judge for the Cannes Lions competition, Gerry Graf of Saatchi & Saatchi, told London's The Guardian that the campaign "screams raw sex." "That's what you want when you put on some jeans. That's what I want," Graf added.

Georgia Beauty Queen Gives Up Her Crown to Teach

Kristina Higgins was crowned Miss Georgia 2009 last weekend.

Then she shocked America when she decided her teaching job was worth more to her than the crown.

As reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Higgins was recently hired as a special education instructor at Snellville Middle School in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

When it came time to sign her contract as Miss Georgia, Higgins decided she didn't want to give up her teaching position.

Runner-up Emily Cook assumed the crown.

David and Victoria Beckham's Steamy Emporio Armani Underwear Campaign

Filed under: Style in the News

Not your average husband and wife! David and Victoria bring the heat for Emporio Armani Underwear's Fall/Winter 2010 campaign. Photo courtesy of Giorgio Armani

We've seen that rope before!

Just when we thought David Beckham's Emporio Armani underwear campaign couldn't get any hotter, Victoria teams up with her soccer star hubby for a steamy ménage à deux shoot.

Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, the new Emporio Armani Underwear Fall/Winter 2009 images features the husband and wife team posing together.

David sports slicked back hair and briefs, while Victoria wears a simple black bra and panty set with her locks twisted into an Asian-inspired topknot.

While Victoria and David both look great in their individual ads, we think casting the parents of three (sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz) together makes for a sexy depiction of marital bliss.

What do you think? Does the couple together make for a hotter campaign or are Posh and David better off alone?

Exclusive! Brüno on Michelle Obama's Style, Eminem and Fall Fashion

Hold onto your Prada purses people! Next Friday (July 10th) famed Austrian fashion reporter Brüno will strut his way into a theater near you. The new mockumentary (starring Sacha Baron Cohen of "Borat" fame) chronicles the faux journalist's trip from front row at Stella McCartney to the checkout line at Sears.

In honor of its release, we emailed the flamboyant trendsetter to ask his opinion about pressing fashion issues. Namely, Michelle Obama's style, the omnipresent gladiator sandal, and which world leader he'd most like to make over (hint: it rhymes with "Schmahmadinejad").

Stylelist: What do you think of Michelle Obama's style; how does it compare to yours?

Brüno: Ich can understand ze pressure zat Michelle is going through. Every day she stands next to one of ze sexiest, most powerful men in ze vorld, und has to look AMAZING, but not steal ze limelight. Exactly ze same dilemma all Bruno's boyfriends have felt. As far as First Ladies' style goes, I think she's doing a good job und compares favourably to say Nancy Reagan's 'Microwaved Barbie' look, or Barbara Bush's 'Boris Yeltsin in drag' thing.

Regarding Barack, ich am very disappointed in him so far. Vhen he kept banging on about 'Change – yes ve can!'...Ich suggest Barack, zhat you change ze record – put on Just Dance by Lady Gaga, rip off your shirt, und give us all a glimpse of vhat we voted for! I am hoping zat he vill soon declare war on Iran, so that he has to visit troops in the desert und break out the beach wear.
